Name a game you hate but everyone else loves - Because you have opinions too <3

They had to make the zombies tougher because if you could run past them like the old games, with the new controls and camera, it'd be too easy.

Basically the idea is instead of trying to avoid them completely, you're supposed to fight them, just not necessarily kill them the first time or two you encounter one due to maybe not having enough, just wound them to get past them until slowly you work their health down to killing them the more you encounter them.

I hate to just tell you to "git gud" but it sounds like the issue is you're playing the game exactly like it's the old one instead of accounting for the changes, that's not the game's fault
My opinion towards the game has changed since I made the post. I got the game on PC and when I could aim worth a shit (and hear the damn game; RE engine games make my base PS4 sound like a damn freight train so the game's audio is basically muted) the game opened up dramatically. With a mouse, I was able to quickly kneecap zombies and run past them and when I mastered that I could finally get into the core gameplay loop. There's still bullshit moments though like opening a door with a zombie right in front of it and I'm still not fond of Mr. X, but on the whole I've softened towards the game. At least now I can actually play it and figure out what to do.

I still think the original's better primarily because I prefer that style of horror game, but REmake 2 has grown on me.

I have a few:

- Spelunky/2 - just kind of sucks. Controls are clunky, levels are boring.

- Risk of Rain 2 - guy go shooty, I guess? Incomprehensible to watch, boring to play.

- Binding of Isaac - it's like a worse version of one of my favourite games, Enter the Gungeon. Gross themes.

- Sekiro - could have been cool, but I swear, no functioning adult could beat this thing without taking vacation days to dedicate to it. I have beaten all the Dark Souls games; you can make steady progress playing an hour a night. This thing just stonewalled me, and it's a shame.

- Nier: Automata - stupid anime plot that makes less sense than the worst final fantasy game, really boring environments, obnoxious characters.

I honestly do not get the RoR (2) hype myself. It plays like a floaty team shooter with weird cel-shaded graphics. It got very repetitive, very quickly.

The Amnesia series, but especially the first one; the Dark Descent. Everyone raved about how scary it was because a bunch of their favorite youtubers played it, some calling it the scariest game they've ever played. When I eventually played it I did everything people said to do, lights out, headphones on, and got really let down by the "horror" of the comical looking monsters.

In fact I'm pretty sure Amnesia was what caused me to roll my eyes now every time someone starts sperging about some new Lovecraftian horror game.

I ironically think that too much exposure killed any fright it had. It has its merits but the overexposure and "wacky youtubers" really made you laugh at the game more than be scared by it. Its like FNAF, the first game is legit intense but I cant play it now without hearing all these youtubers in my ear and it keeps me from getting fully invested. Exposure in the mainstream is a double edged sword.

Borderlands

I always found the writting annoying/cringe and the whole idea of collecting loot just for the sake of it felt annoying.

A game I can't stand is Hyperdimension Neptunia. To me it just feels like another hypersexualized anime game with half assed ridiculous clothing. I really do not get the appeal of modern anime games and most likely never will. I always found Modern Anime to be cringe.

Civ V, though "hate" is a strong word.

I can see on a technically that it's a well made game, it's just not for me. If a game is going to be as slow paced as Civ V is, I sort of want it to have a few more fantastical element to it. Again, good game, I just couldn't get into it.

I thought Borderlands was fun for about half an hour, just a mindless slog after that. Same goes for all looter shooters like Destiny. I wanted to like Destiny and I damn sure tried. Less tryhard humor than Borderlands helped but that only goes so far when you're running the same map 500 times.

Anything Touhou related. I don't know what it is about the games, but Touhou fans just have to inject their bullshit into other fandoms. Now that I think about it, anime girl shit in general is annoying because the main character is usually bland as fuck at best or pretentious and cunty because the writers tried to make her into a stronk wimmin.

I hate Resident Evil 6, 0 and Code: Veronica.

Hating 6 isn’t controversial. There is zero horror and the story is stupid as fuck. Even having these facts in mind, however, couldn’t deter me from loathing this game. I even played co-op and it’s a shit experience, way more than 5 which is a bland but a competent continuation of RE 4’s gameplay.

RE Zero has bad inventory management and main characters. Yeah you can throw whatever shit doesn’t fit in your bags anywhere you want, but it’s still stupid. Did you remember to lug that hook shot device everywhere? Oops! Better go back to the train where you left it! Also, most of the enemies are giant animals and the main villain is silly as hell. I mean, a boss based on leech mutations sounds cool on paper but why was it so anime and silly?

Code:Veronica is way better than the above but it had some mechanical problems which made it the first Resident Evil I never finished. Why did you make me switch to Chris when I wasn’t prepared? I couldn’t finish the final bosses as a result.

I say I hate Veronica but I don’t, really. I mean, how can you hate a game that has the delightfully fucked up Ashton family? Also, the music is fucking great compared to the other games. It’s just that I wasn’t prepared for the character switch.

The Dishonored series. Found the setting, graphical design, and gameplay to be jarring as fuck. There are much better sims out there, including Deus Ex, Bioshock, and Prey.

What sucks about Dishonored is that you have to be super stealthy and nonviolent to get the good endings, but all the fun mechanics involve murdering people so I hate how this game punishes you.

The trick is not to play towards the good endings, or only do it once. I’ve played through the first game a few times, I can’t recall if I did nonviolent but if I did then it was only once. Killing people in the game is just too fun not to do. I like the game but I can see why it would turn off some people

I could never get into any of the modern Final Fantasy titles. Loved the old SNES era ones, but I found any after the jump to 3D I couldn’t get into.

Any MMOs to some extent, I tried to get into WoW but found the gameplay really repetitive and get annoyed with how much stuff required me to have friends.

and it’s been mentioned lots but Overwatch as well although I think that’s at least partially the fandom and community for me. The game itself is ok but playing with randos gets annoying. I only ever play the casual mode and still had people bitch me out for being bad at video games. I also have witnessed enough dumb ship drama firsthand that it left a bad taste in my mouth.
