Cosmo himself said what happened is that they fixed some glitches he took advantage of for his runs but they did not reset the leaderboards. So his records, that he used those glitches to get, are now impossible to beat.

It's very common for people to be "speedrunners" only to try and find games/runs/categories that no one else runs to be "world champion". Cosmo has been doing that for a while - not realizing that people can see through it pretty easily.

In fact apparently speedrunners believe so strongly in changing your category to try to seem special or make a name for yourself, that they even try to do it with their gender identity. But people can see through that even more easily.

Even when Cosmo was one of the most famous runners in the world he was still doing things like this. His OoT runs were done on an iQue player (Chinese bootleg n64) that not many people had access to and caused a lot of separate category sperging. He was never that great at speedrunning, he just had time and resources when the trend hadn't had much adoption yet.

That's because they are not good at speedrunning. At the time nobody knew better and the hobby was obscure, but nowadays we have way better autists out there who put Cosmo and Sigle to shame.

I remember Sigle grinded Mario 64 for one whole month back then, it was considered an absurd amount of time, but nowadays people are grinding games for a decade and still keep going. They are just lazy as far as this hobby goes, they never go to the extreme as modern speedrunners go.

Cosmo or “Narcissa” is unironically, a massive narcissist. He will never ever kill himself.

If you watch his contemporary streams, he has adopted a sort of doomsday cult mentality, that he is the real player one, and that everything is kind of a simulation, and he just needs to hold on until his brain will be uploaded into the cloud.

Years beyond when the movie was supposed to be done, the Break The Game movie featuring Narcissa Wright is being delivered to Kickstarter backers this Friday. I'm in at the 20-dollar level which grants me a digital copy of the movie.

I don't know how the filmmakers are going to conclude the movie in any favourable way since we know that Narcissa gave up on "breaking the game," and streamed himself having meltdowns until he got himself banned from Twitch.
