Running a game barely anyone cares about in a category no one cares about?
He sure seems to imply that his invitation to Ludwig's next event or GDQ is what constitutes as speedrunning getting it's soul back - after all, I'm sure that the person who has meltdowns on stream is a great fit for huge, corporate adjacent events in front of thousands of people!

Say what you want but basement-era AGDQ was kino and Cosmo's ability to perform both oot and ww while competently explaining everything he was doing to a layman audience was some of the best of it. There's a reason everybody cited Cosmo and Sig as entry points. There was sovl. What he doesn't seem to realize is that both he and AGDQ are dead and buried and never coming back no matter what anybody does, they're both radioactive and no sane person wants to perform in a high pressure environment in front of thousands of people while having their thoughts and speech policed by the most authoritarianism fascist clique in existence -- a problem he's perpetuating, not solving. The golden era is over and it is never ever coming back.

It's a "woke" game with the right message but it's also deeply unpopular.

Unpopular games have drastically less competition for "World Records" and generally have less skilled people running them (which means less tech to learn, less changes to a run, less likely to ever have a run upended, etc). More popular games have way more investment required to be successful and it's hard to stay successful - you are basically required to never stop and update your run each time something new gets discovered.

For Example - Legend of Zelda : Tears of the Kingdom in the last 60 days has had roughly ~60 runs submitted, or roughly one a day every day for two months across all categories. Forspoken (by contrast) has only had 22 runs submitted in it's entire lifetime across all categories - roughly 1 a month. If you remove "Demo %" (which I think is just the demo and should be it's own category not tied to the full game) it's 15 runs. So the competition in TOTK is thirty times harder than in Forspoken.

There hasn't been a timed 100% run of Forspoken - so if you were to upload your best attempt you could legit claim to be a "World Record Holder Speedrunner".

Narci trying to cherry pick an easy category/game is nothing new and still very sad.
