Honestly listening to him on his streams, even though he is still trantastic, he sounds and talks much, much more like his Cosmo-self than he did before. He has all but completely dropped his "fem"-voice aside from a slight lisp at the end of sentences, is much more lively in his conversing as opposed to just... sitting there in his filth. Maybe he isn't taking his meds as much or the phase is starting to die. I know its 
as fuck to suggest it, but maybe Cosmo is starting to have an inkling of self-awareness return to him and the seed has been planted that maybe going full troon because of a break-up wasn't exactly worth it.

It seems to be a mix of factors that all happened at the same time, his girlfriend broke up with him, he got destroyed in front of an audience at NWC by John Number, his friend who was trans died and he was told by a doctor that he shouldnt speed run anymore because of the damage to his wrists, these things caused him to have a psychotic break and he trooned out to separate himself from his past and because he was always kinda effeminate. Instead of working on any of the issues he retreated into himself and by the time he came back into the public sphere he had completely embraced narcissa, but cosmo still haunts him because narcissa always falls short of his accomplishments.

Haven't there been a bunch of speedrunners who trooned out since, or talked about their troon boyfriends? I know that one dude talking about his boyfriend coming out as a tranny on a GDQ stream made cringe/fail videos all over. Then there is the whole tranny :autism: connection. Him trooning out seemed like a watershed moment and if it wasn't him, it would have been someone else.

Well, apparently today he came out and said a large part of it was because his girlfriend essentially cucked him.
I'm going to guess this all happened or started at SGDQ 2015 because there were rumors at that GDQ of a popular speedrunner whose girlfriend was making out with other guys and just flirting around in general. And from this it seems like she wanted to break up but didn't want to hurt him, yet still wanted to get her rocks off with other guys.
Makes sense, too. Someone I know who was friends with her said she lied to Cosmo that they needed a "break" because she had to go home and help take care of someone in her family. It was really just an excuse to break up without coming off like a huge bitch. About 2-3 weeks after saying a relationship was too distracting she was in a new one. Lol.

There's the theory too with evidence that Cosmo was so broken by his tranny friend's suicide that he was trying to troon out as a way of coping with it.
That combined with the breakup and the infamous NWC lost likely was a "perfect storm" that led to the trooning out.

As far as I remember, there is protomagicalgirl, who was a prominent and infamous figure at SGDQ2017. Her girlfriend and Enchantressofnumbers are both also in the tetris community. Orcastraw, who seems decent, despite submitting a BOTW run after the community agreed not to submit one. Emily Brooks and her posse did a Pikmin run that went over estimate and put the chat in emote-only mode for two hours (where I was permabanned for posting OT with emotes). I know nothing about Claris/Miles or sagev3. I'm not sure if Cosmo influenced these people's decisions, but the only person I can think of from longer ago is Withhelde. It could also be coinciding with the decreasing popularity of speedrunning, outside of GDQs.
