Yeah, well... since you put it that way, I can see now how dead wrong I am on that one.

Cosmo has severe psychological issue beyond just trooning out. I don't know whether it was the attention and success he got that exacerbated them, achieving something beyond what even his peers could at the time, being unable to replicate it or the fear if being unable to replicate it, autism, his gf leaving, a combination of all of the above, or what exactly caused this breakdown. What I do know is that Cosmo is unwilling to go back to who he was. If he is truly a narcissist then he's taken some severe narcissistic injuries these past few years. Narcissists react very differently from normal people when they have their ego crushed. I'm not sure he's a legit narc, but he certainly has a very warped sense of self. He also has people constantly mewling to him about who he was and how he should go back to that. I think that only reinforces his desire to escape from Cosmo.

I'm pretty sure that if he ever gets past this fucked period of his life that he isn't just going to go back to being the Cosmo everyone thinks he was.

I'm under the impression that trooning out only happens to most of these people because it's whats "popular" at the moment. Speedrunning is not exactly the most life fulfilling activity in the world, and not something most well adjusted people would choose to dedicate all their time to. He strikes me as a pretty lazy person since all he's done since then is lay around in his room begging for money and attention. Isn't it interesting how trooning out seems to align so perfectly with the Neet lifestyle?
He's looking for some kind of fulfillment in life, and jumping on lifestyle bandwagons and taking drugs is not the solution. As long as he remains too lazy and introverted to put forth any work or effort he'll just rot away in front of his computer. Constantly looking for quick and easy ways to feel important and special, like with that documentary that's supposed to be in the works.

When I look at the streaming roster of a CLG, I see a path where Cosmo didn't troon out and instead did streaming like zfg, cheese, and simpleflips. I think Cosmo fits right in to that group, even after getting owned onstage. Narcissa doesn't really fit anywhere, purely based on content.

He emigrated from Trinidad specifically because it's still pretty backwards for lgbt rights (he's gay iirc) and as of last year shared a tiny house in Spain with a lot of other family members. He broke a ton of Super Mario 64 records and got severely burned out as a result, routinely chokes when he hits WR pace and can get ratty on stream at times from the pressure. But he's still loved and revered as a runner because he's hardworking, regularly takes part in SM64 speedrun and randomizer contests and is a genuinely sweet guy. There's probably a world where Cosmo stayed on track and is loved to this day and cheese became the narc shut-in, but it's not this one

It's just one hour of low-energy smash ultimate stream with classical music playing, and then Narcissa goes AFK and what must be YouTube autoplays to some video about Shadow of the Colossus, which plays offscreen in it's entirety. Speedrunning is mechanically demanding, so people have a tendency to at least do somewhat decent in variety gaming. Elajjaz was a Souls top 3 runner for a long time and still holds a lot of top 10s. He tends to speedrun a few games now and then after finishing them, while still doing menial shit like his yearly God of War franchise playthrough.

If anything, speedrunning is a buzzword way to get viewers to propel you into a better point in your Twitch career. Cosmo was boring as fuck to listen to, and even then.. Yeah, well, this thread. His Discord. So much given with nothing to prove for it, simply for being a speedrunner.
