What replacement?

There ain't no replacement until something actually goes up.

There's no replacement for displacement.

Yep. Dead as in doornail. Also Orion has always been just the human launch vehicle and kind of its own thing separate from Constellation. The Ares 1 from Constellation that was originally supposed to take it up is well and truly ash canned, so now it's supposedly going to be bolted to the top of SLS. Or at least that's the current plan - who knows what the next administration will do to it?

I hear they want to fly Orion this year. Think they will? Obviously SLS is not ready. They can't even decide on what to build.

I am more of a Roscosmos sperg than a NASA sperg. :\
Is that the Proton that failed on launch because they installed some acceleration sensors backwards? Either way that's some especially scary shit considering those things burn hydrazine.

Don't get me wrong, I admire the way the Russians still manage to get shit done even under limited circumstances, but their space program does tend to resemble Kerbal's far more often than it should.

Europa, Enceladus, and Titan are "the new Mars" now. Especially Europa with it's free oxygen in the subsurface ocean that's liberated by radiation striking the ice crust.

Anyone seen Moonlight Mile? It's pretty good. I hate that they never released the second half of it in the US though.

So your dad's a Astronaut? Or works for Nasa? Either way sweet.

Lots of people work for NASA. It's a 90/10 organization just like any other. (90% of the work is done by 10% of the people.)

I don't get the NASA channel anymore and I miss it. When I worked at NBC we got the newsroom's raw feed whenever a mission was up and on days I was in my office I would just turn it on and watch the Earth float by all day. The other producers thought I was nuts, and of course, it was the most serene, lovely, inspiring thing to watch.

I wish I had a livestream or something of the Earth from space. Maybe on NASA's website?

Yeah but those are much further away.

Watched 2001 in 2015.
Comes to sad realization that at our current pace, we might have those cool ships and bases by 2101 if we're LUCKY.:heart-empty:
Our current pace will accelerate, I believe

Spaceflight really needs development.

I have been reading about Cubsat's for a while now and lot's of really cool experimentation is going on, obviously non of it manned but they are doing some cool stuff.

I have thought about building one once (not for flight) but just to learn how to design a mission and how the systems work.
