He's especially pissed because I now have power over a place he got me banned from due to lying his ass off once.

The saddest part of all is that I offered Nate a solution awhile back, which still stands even now: I will permanently make copies of all the content on all the wikis he wants to edit (XML dumps make this easy), help him set them up with a wiki service that hasn't banned his ass yet (or his own hosting, if he can afford the server costs), make him lord and master of all those wikis, then he can edit the shit out of them and keep out anyone he deems unworthy.

But that's not good enough apparently. He wants to edit where other people do and drive out anyone he doesn't like despite having no say because he believes he's the one who should be setting the rules, even though he can only really do that where he has any actual power.

That's the rub, unfortunately: He wants to pound square pegs into round holes and roll water uphill and he's too blinded by stupidity and rage to realize he's not going to get it to happen.

Also, if I was allowed, I'd be happy to call Nate's parents and correct his deluded impression I'm a girl, but his mother asked me to never call again, and I have every intention of honoring her request, so I'm afraid Nate will have to take my word for it.

Nate's crazy, and you can't convince a crazy man he's batshit.

His dad apparently mistook me for a woman because how my voice sounded over the phone, and based on Nate's words he never heard me personally, he just took his dad's word for it.

It's an honest mistake, lost count of how many people I've needed to tell I'm a dude over a phone before, but Nate seems convinced I have reason to lie about this even though I've done fuck all to hide I'm a man everywhere I post on the internet.

Doesn't bother me, though, more like I'm unbelievably confused he would assume I'm a woman based on such silly conclusions.

I sent a Nate a cut it out message after his insipid bukkake of my wall with stupid shit nonsense, and some of his responses are revealing:

First, Nate has the classic problem of being a Self-Appointed Hero Autist as I mention on my bestiary of autism.

He truly thinks he's the wronged underdog here. Second, he believes all his actions are justified because he's cast himself as the wronged hero, and he conflates his own butthurt with hurting other people, because he's so convinced in the rightness of his cause and he's pissed no one sees he's the good guy.

His constant rage, in part, is due to the fact no one reinforces his delusions of heroism.

Nate takes this internet editing stuff way too seriously, and he waves away all evidence he's the asshole with the same, self-pitying explanation.

Nate, by destroying account data, you would have corrupted the whole site, because that's how databases (which edits and accounts on a web site are recorded in) work, all the information is connected, so by destroying accounts, any pages they edited would have been corrupted, anywhere their names were recorded would be corrupted, and given you wanted to destroy the accounts of people who have access to the entire site, you would have destroyed the whole site by destroying their accounts.

I've worked with databases before, Nate, so I can back this up, you can't just cut out account data without hurting anything connected to it.

So no, Nate, you wanted to kill an entire site just to get your way when you wanted those accounts destroyed.

Nate's idea of hacking is that a hacker could fry the accounts of everyone messing with him and magically turn back time, thus giving him free reign and turn the targeted website into an autistic playground for him.

Having worked with wikis and databases, he's a fool for two reasons:

1. TV Tropes uses a combination database/flat file system, meaning the database has the account data, but site content linked to the accounts is fetched from text files. To achieve what Nate wants would irreparably fuck up the information on both sides of the coin, and the resultant data corruption would kill the very site he wants to "save", because to truly kill the accounts of people he doesn't like, not only does he need to have the database records fried, but all text backups, which would cause PmWiki to shit the bed hard because the basic core of the site requires the data for their hybrid database to sync up.

2. His logic for justifying the hacking is setting a fire in a dry forest to burn down a clump of trees, even though the resultant damage would assuredly burn the whole forest down trying to get rid of a few trees. He has this stupid idea "hacking" is some magical, surgical removal of things he doesn't like. In reality, the process is a lot uglier and the chances of burning the whole site into corrupt ruins is quite high, assuming he got his way.


Finally, he was never able to give a rebuttal to my final response:

As much as you type out how you will hurt me and other people, do you honestly think you are doing any real damage?

And Nate, I've been in actual fights before, and trust me, they are not as fun and simple as you think they are, and I seriously doubt you are capable of any real violence, except possibly to get yourself hurt in the process, and I don't want that to happen to you.

I could leave Wikia to deal with his crazy by themselves, but thing is, I have a conscience, and I'd rather Nate mostly take his shit out on me as opposed to all the crap he starts with other people, it certainly limits his crazy in some way. Second, I have been given so much UNPROVOKED shit by this guy it doesn't matter if I'm involved or not, I am his eternal enemy until one of us dies and he will continue to make my life miserable because we cross pollinate in the same circles too much to avoid it.

well, i do tend to think about my actions against nate. i do feel bad if my actions are too much, but we know what nate is doing is wrong and we have to keep him off wikia because of him breaking the rules. of course i post messages on the message walls of his sock accounts, calling him out in a trolish manner so he do his typical reactions, which exposes him to the wikia admins and moderators to get him blocked.

@GethN7 of course told me that posting those kinds of messages, even to a ban evading vandal like nate, can make me look like a jackass. i took his advice and began to take the whole nate socking on wikia situation more seriously like him.

you may be right that nate truely will not stop, but we cant let him vandalize pages and let him harass and bug other people, he needs to realize that his action have severe consequences. if me and geth's actions have consequences not from nate, but from other people with higher power, then we're ready to accept them.

As for legal trouble, I got an update on that. So far, while what Nate is doing now is technically actionable, prosecuting it would be another matter entirely.

If anything, if Nate does something as stupid as trying to solicit cybercrime again, which I have no doubt he will try sooner or later, then he will sign his own arrest warrant and have received assurances from multiple parties that any action he takes towards that end will result in bracelets on Nate's wrists soon afterwards.

Until then, he's a sideshow we are free to observe until his foolishness overcomes his remaining restraint from criminal activity once more.
