Islam is often known in the west for what it isn't. I don't agree with it one hundred percent, but it has beautiful art, great music and great food as Satan said. It also helped contribute to western civilization and medicine.

I have to say that this art is pretty decent but I don't really agree with this guy's message.

I was a practicing Muslimah back in 2002-2003 and again from 2011 to this year, while I like some of things that Islam offers, I found it to be to restricting and regimented for me and I couldn't keep up, plus I started to lack in the spiritual aspects and the rules and regulations made it a chore for me. I still respect Muslims and I respect others' choices in how they want to worship God or whatever but this religion isn't for me.

That said, as fundamentalist as this guy seems to be he apparently isn't aware that in Islam that you aren't allowed to draw pictures.

tl:dr: In Islam drawing pictures of animals and people is prohibited and if you draw them then Allah is going let make them alive so that they can go Freddy Krueger on your ass for all eternity, but hey at least you can draw rocks and trees.

I remember seeing some of this in a history class once. How would this be justified? I sort of remember the professor saying that art was tolerated so long as it didn't show the Prophet, God or scenes from the Koran, but this was a long time ago so I might not be remembering it right (or the prof was wrong—there was a lot of this art back in the day though).

I've actually gotten along pretty well with all the Muslims I've met. Two of them were less than devout though (they drank beer with me). The others were more religious, though one of the religious ones was pretty westernized.

It's regional. There are plenty of depictions of even Mohammed in Persian areas. Islam is pretty fractured even outside the Sunni/Shia schism. Christianity was that way before, more or less, the Roman Inquisition.

Ironically, Israel treats Muslims ( the ones in Israel proper, not West Bank/Gaza) with more kindness, dignity and freedom than pretty much every other Muslim majority country on the planet.

Something tells me Nayfag never had a woman actually take her hijab off for him, or else why would he be drawing holier-then-thou-art anime posters in the first place? It's most likely a severe lack of understanding of human emotions and interactions that drives some autistic people to become zealots; usually it's the militant atheist kind, sometimes it's religious but it always is grating no matter what side of the argument they're on.
