Nebula / Standard Broadcast LLC - A Creator-Owned Streaming Service

Hmm, so that's at least two creators who were removed from the Nebula stable for wrongthink then: Jill Bearup and Second Thought. I'm not familiar with the latter. Bright Sun Films still hosts his videos there but no longer promotes Nebula on any of his main channel shows or his second travel channel.
So I tried searching for whatever reprehensible thing Second Thought said that got him immediately banished from Nebula, and I found...nothing 🤷‍♀️

A few comments on Reddit claimed his tweets criticizing Israel's response to October 7th was the reason for his removal (can't find the supposed tweets, so no idea what was said in them). But also there was a few comments on Reddit insisting Second Thought didn't make any spicy takes about the war in Gaza, and his videos/content were purged from Nebula for a yet to be named reason.

I'm starting to wonder if there was something in Second Thought's Nebula content/videos that was critical of a certain wealthy Islamic totalitarian state that beings with the letter "Q" and ends with "atar". Alternatively, he left the platform after having issues with the way its being run into the ground funding vampire troon bullsh!t or perhaps problems with the company taking money from shady hostile nations to run propaganda.

Like I said previously, I just can't imagine antisemitism being the actual reason for his removal, since Nebula is full of creators who are extremely vocal about their hatred of Jews.

It was just announced that RiffTrax will be doing a weekly stream on Nebula, as well as hosting their library there.
A weekly Rifftrax stream/podcast would have been awesome...in 2008. Also, I thought the main Rifftrax guys retired a few years ago? The announcement feels like the podcast equivalent of streaming services bringing back long-dead sitcoms for 1 or 2 shitty reboot seasons 'cause nostalgia.

Okay, some time today, I'm going to re-download their creator list and update the OP with it. I will mark anyone removed from the list, and I will link anyone with an existing thread.

I know I likely asked this in the past, but if there are any Nebula creators who you guys would like to be highlighted either positively or negatively in the OP, feel free to reply with a short explanation. I'll look more into them and flesh those out.

Jason Slaughter / Not Just Bikes, CityNerd / Ray Delahanty and Climate Town / Rollie Williams, all from the urbanists (anti-car) thread. There's even a category dedicated to urbanism on Nebula.

So continuing the trend of Nebula educational video essays being thinly veiled propaganda, Wendover just released a video advocating for the repeal of the Jones Act. 'cause *checks notes* Hawaii is the victim of colonization, & it'd make consumer goods in Hawaii cheaper to purchase.

Why the Jones Act is important. Notable quote from said article: "The serious and negative impacts on American security that a Jones Act repeal would produce should, in the current geopolitical context, end discussion of that subject [...]"

Repealing the Jones act would immediately benefit China - perhaps Wendover's benefactor of the week? However Qatar is a huge player in international LNG shipping, so it's also possible it funded said video.

The funniest thing about this video is, the only people in America in recent history who've ever seriously pushed for Washington to repeal/rewrite the Jones Act were Republican politicians funded by the Koch Brothers 🤣 The Koch Brothers pushed for it's repeal as recently as 2017 - as explained by this article, which also debunks some of the alarmist claims Wendover makes about the Jones Act, and urges people to "beware of misinformation and false claims being propagated by anti-Jones Act agitators".

🚬I swear, never a dull moment with Nebula's crop of dumbass tankies. Praising the country of Qatar for its dedication to fair & balanced journalism, thinking the Koch Brother's plot to flood the American shipping industry with cheap foreign labor is a fantastic idea - it's like there's absolutely no hot take they won't promote if given enough cash. (I like to think someone high up at the Cato Institute is a Kiwi Farmer & saw this thread, realized Nebula tankies have zero scruples/the platform is going broke, and paid them handsomely to make videos promoting the Koch Brother's agenda. If that is the case, OMG, you are amazing - that is so fucking funny, Please pay off more Breadtubers to spout Cato Institute-isms. Ooh, have one of the urbanist bike-brained tankies promote the petroleum industry/claim rechargeable electric cars are worse than oil cars since they require substantial amounts of rare earth minerals. Or maybe have them promote deregulating railway safety laws 'cause, well, trains. Pretty sure they'd agree to anything if it leads to more trains 🚂)

He (Sam Denby) also made a video where he says ending Chevron deference was a "signature bad move" because it means the government isn't deferring to "experts" anymore.

I guess having unelected "experts" have unchecked power is a Good Thing, Actually.

I updated the list to fix some duplications due to formatting inconsistencies, I will update the OP with it after work.

This video posits that Nebula creators get most of their revenue from the sponsorships, and that a large source of CS’ failure is due to these sponsorship costs

Edit: I’m :late: and this was mentioned earlier in the thread. Video just got into my recommended

Saw this post where Brian McManus of Real Engineering is threatening to claim a video, which is arguably within fair use mind you, for a video clip used by MrWhoseABoss for a few seconds with credits.

Once the DM's were exposed, Brian Delusionally showed that MrWhoseABoss's "begging", which is him showing actual concern over the dispute and him not responding like a child.

He's getting flacked for this.

The video in question.

I mean, on one hand it's clearly content theft.

On the other hand Real Engineering handled this in such a faggy manner that he somehow manages to come off worse. Just give the guy some bullshit price, and say you'll remove the strike as soon as he pays for the snippet.

what a weird way to respond to it, the guy seems genuine about wanting to address it and resolve the situation
RE’s response feels a little sadistic in the sense of enjoying having leverage

Meanwhile, I thought one of the [alleged] main reasons for Nebula's existence was that its tankie founders were p!ssed that their Youtube content kept getting petty copyright strikes for instances of fair use? 🙄 Wouldn't it go against the Nebula spirit, to pettily copyright strike seconds-long credited clips?

Nebula creators, always a classy bunch of twatwaffles.

First of all of having far left beliefs those beliefs only extend as far as you can use them to browbeat someone else I swear communists if they existed in the 1800s would be the most cruel slave drivers imaginable other slave owners were like hold on wait a second that's just plainly very very unnecessary they be the types of people to *** rape male slaves

this guy is clearly making a propaganda video for nebula curiosity stream is much more high quality content and is worth more money simply due to the fact that all the documentaries aren't low IQ communist agitprop
