Need to wipe a writelocked micro SD card.

what sort of things were you taking pictures of at work
Pictures and videos of the line with stuck product. We had to take pictures and or a video along with a written report every single time the product got stuck on the line, which was a common occurrence. I have probably hundreds of pictures and videos of the line with stuck product.

I sounded like an asshole in my prior post so in an actual attempt to be helpful I'll say that static electricity can damage a SD card so it's not functional at all without leaving any sign of intentional damage.
Rub my feet across the carpet then pick it up? Or are we talking more?

I was going to suggest saving a bunch of crap onto it, but if it's write-protected that probably won't work. Have you tried either fucking with permissions (properties then security tab and there should be a button to edit permissions) or seeing if you can go into the properties of the card in windows and take off read only mode?
You could try a real beefy magnet. Not sure if sound system speakers would be strong enough.
If you have to mail them back for an RMA, you could always bend the envelope or rough up the box and claim it was fine when you sent it. Maybe snap a picture of the package in good shape though if Samsung gets on your ass.

you might try running some electrical current through it, maybe from a small battery or something?
idk how much you'd need exactly, but too much would definitely discolor or warp
you could probably use an assorted pack of resistors to gradually raise the current
those are pretty cheap but you might not have time to wait for shipping
ideally, you'd have a bench power supply that would let you experiment with different V & I combinations
there might be some way to mess with the memory directly, bypassing the controller or something
you'd probably need to crack it open for that and idk how to do it

Plot twist: the SD is full of pics of OP in diapers and he wants to tricks someone into unlocking it so he can be absolutely sure they will see it.
Dude even I gagged at that thought.

Because of my usage of this website, I've just come to expect the worst out of people. I'm super paranoid. I constantly check to see if the same cars go by because I'm afraid the FBI might be after me for using this website, for pirating movies/tv shows/music/games/etc. Hell every song, movie, and tv show on the SD card is pirated.

I also don't want to get sued by a former employer for leaking proprietary info to a direct competitor. They have sued people for similar things. I had to sign a non-compete that prevents me from working at any other factory regardless of what was being produced. During my training/onboarding the first words out of the CEO's mouth was "The google reviews about us are lies"

Is saving $97 worth the potential repercussions with your previous job and/or compromising your privacy?
If so, fuck it send it in. If youre this on the fence about it, better to just write it off as a loss and buy a replacement.
That's the thing, I'm a broke college kid now. If I was still employed there I would just buy a new one, I mean that's why I have two SD cards that are read only. First one failed so I just purchased a new one. Job hunt has been a mess now that I'm going to college.

Of course, as you should be when dealing with the upper case i Internet. It's not your personal friend, it's not here to help you with your personal life. I don't mean the SD-cards technical question, I mean personal issues.

Are you seriously this fucked up over $95? Brokie alert.

Okay you are lying your ass off about something OP. You made up this weird factory story. I don't believe any of this. What's really going on?

If you can't get enough to kill it by rubbing your feet on carpet, piezoelectric igniters from a torch lighter or a gas grill might do the trick.

It doesn't have moving parts and it doesn't use magnetic storage so it won't make a difference. Maybe if there was a switch issue you could pull it out with the magnet but it sounds like a different error.

Lawl wut

What's really on that SD card. Also if you're serious about recovering data on this potentially-damaged medium, you're gonna need to go full meme and install Linux so we can get some actual diagnostic verbosity out of the card + reader.

Lol bro just RMA the one that's completely dead or whatever and destroy the other one. Eat the cost. The reason people don't believe you is because your story is like the perfect setup for 5 silly minutes of retardation to potentially ruin your whole life if you leak company secrets and it sounds weird that you just won't cut your losses no matter what. Just do the non-retarded thing, it's not that hard.

Did the job provide the SD card? I'm thinking there's some encryption in it to prevent it from being modified. Or, it's just dead.
