It's honestly not a suprise that this neocities thing became a massive hive for people like this, but god damn is it depressing that you can't have any niche, cool thing without it being a tranny hotspot.
I was wondering why a site devoted to the old web would have a fucking discord and they actually answer it:
The second problem is that many ‘decentralized’ apps in particular have garnered a widespread reputation for hate speech. In many of these spaces (IRC included), “free speech” becomes synonymous with “hate speech”. It’s no surprise that one would be reluctant to associate themselves (especially a community) with that kind of reputation.
(the first problem is just them saying that they are too retarded for anything else)

every neocities "about me" page is basically this

sadgrl.online, a major pioneer in making Neocities such a dogshit place to be, has quit Neocities and abandoned her website (alongside the Yesterweb Webring), as well as made a 19-CHAPTER SUMMARY of her experiences and how she was butthurt that people called it a trans circlejerk. Hilariously discusses how to do etiquette right, with a point about misconstruing other peoples' views, before going on to misconstrue all opposition as hate speech.

Anyways, I'm mostly posting here because the Yesterweb Forum, which was a hotbed for this hellscape, was shut down alongside it and put into archived mode when all this went down. It will be deleted in a week, so it's important to archive now.

Why didn't I post about this earlier if it was gonna be dead by June?
...I had no idea that this had even happened until I saw a discontinued notification on someone's Yesterweb Webring widget.
The VRchat rip-off of the group seems to be fine, as does the chatbox, but the Yesterweb ring and sad.girl as a user is now dead and gone.

Good fucking riddance!

UPDATE: Apparently, it's already too late for the forums
I only just noticed that it had subforums (other than the only one that's currently visible), most of which are inaccessible. I managed to get to one called "The Gazebo" through a misplaced link in the only currently-available subforum, but the rest are probably lost to history unless someone's got the urls.

If nothing else, I've archived almost every single thread that contains the contact info of each member on other sites (just in case any are worthy of a thread in the future). For a community so hell-bent on "reviving the old internet", they sure do revert to the exact same shit they left behind a lot. So much "alternative" social media...

Flight Rising thread
Pokefarms thread
Spacehey thread
Multiverse.Plus thread
Grundo's Cafe thread (only has one proper username)
Furcadia thread
Newgrounds thread
Status.Cafe thread
Mastodon thread
Tumblr thread
Cohost thread
Web Raft thread
Neocities thread
Escargot thread
"Art page" thread (mostly just Neocities links, but not all of these people replied to the Neocities thread)
BONUS (NOT ABOUT CONTACT INFO): "Nice online spaces for socializing" thread. I just find it funny that this thread calls Spacehey "niche" when it has over 600k members. Lol.

Obviously not every person on the forums has replied to these threads, and a fair amount are pretty short (Grundo's Cafe especially), but they're mostly good resources for tracking anyone if necessary. I know that the community has a shitload of unironic "faeself" types, so I'll definitely be giving it a deeper look sometime.

Not sad to see this thing go at all. If I was more optimistic I'd say that Yesterweb shutting down might finally kill off the cancerous plague that it wrought upon Neocities and still affects it to this day, but the Yesterweb dying won't kill the websites it spawned so Neocities is probably stuck with this tumor forever.

God I wish this space wasn't infected with brainless trannies. How the fuck did web development and coding become synonymous with "programming socks", femboys, and lgbt shit anyways?

I enjoy the concept. It's sad to see how in pursuit of defying modern web development people either make a dark pixelated grid with snow in the back or a Hello Kitty pink flash-bang. Nearly every site I've seen has mimicked the last, declaring that this is their corner of the internet made necessary from their dry attempt at copying someone else's internet manifesto. It's a shame how a platform made for creativity became just as a repetitive as Twitter. There's been a handful of sites that I've found interesting but they are far between.

While not a Neocities site it exists in the same vain. Insect.christmas, Aztrosist's personal site started out as a beautiful mesh of individually created pages, all traversed and read differently depending on the topic. It was legitimately a great example of abstract—not sure if that's an applicable term—web development. Since (s)he's fully transitioned the sites been nuked in favour of the usual static pixelated grid with a snow gif in the background. There's still a few rememenants from the previous layout mainly on the art page, however, for the most part it was all nuked for conformity.
The fella's definitely not a lolcow, it was just the most recent example of the shitty design that's been bugging me.

Edit: Saw the post mentioning the thread in PG. My apologies for posting my ramble before finishing the thread.

this isn't really cowish, so I'm going to post it here instead of the Community Watch thread. I found a genuinely nice site free of the usual Neocities garbage. Doesn't mention anything about who the webmaster wants to fuck, isn't crammed full of commie shit or "nostalgia for the old web", and has basically no activism on it. It's just some girl's personal website with a cute theme and some discussion of her interests. The craziest thing on there is a brief mention of her interest in Jerma985 specifically.

I find this triply impressive considering that she has an ao3 account (where she has an ongoing 225k-word gay fanfic shipping two Dragon Age characters) and is a complete Twitter + tumblr addict- with a carrd, no less.

Despite all these massive red flags, this is probably the most normal person i've ever seen using Neocities. Pretty much just your average terminally-online girl with a bubbly personality and tepid "love and friendship" sorta beliefs. I wish more Neocities websites were like this.
