Nice catch, the original has been memory holed. The biggest tell is that accounts with a post count that low are considered junies and get banned for making a typo. Not only is he opening threads during that time, but he's actually referencing lore and drama that most lurkers would miss.
Now the mods are actively destroying pointers and evidence that would expose mcspook as the Lime-like VIP that he currently is. This is a big thing on a forum that usually preserves evidence of trolling so everyone in the thread can laugh at them.

Potentially, but after the Robin/Ketkat discord leaking scandal the jannies are super paranoid. Lolcows like this can rarely even truly trust each other.

After we dug up and showed B-Dubs and co's history on NeoGAF some of the jannies were quietly let go (Jarmel) and B-Dubs is now on "vacation". Whatever monetary agreement Isamu Fukui has with B-Dubs is probably getting concluded and I bet he stands down soon.

They banbait their own forum and play favorites, but I'm not sure about running alt-accounts. They let VIP members do that, especially the ones who feed them bans.

An ex-janny instead of active? Maybe, but most jannies that step down from Era literally just flee the forum and ask themselves why they didn't leave earlier.

That's the thing. Moderating open forums can lead to a lot of exposure to images of all sorts of horrible things that can truly mess with your head. Constantly being exposed to child porn (when you're not a ResetEra pedo) that you have to clean away does cause moderators of places where it gets posted some serious issues, and yes, even PTSD.

But these assholes, where it's not even their job but a volunteer position, who are there mainly because they enjoy the power-trip and want to have some small importance in their life, compare reading bad words and people being mean to them in text with actually dealing with horrific snuff pictures daily. They think that because they're so desperate to be oppressed that they see transphobia, racism and misogyny everywhere, that the barest hints of it that they're exposed to on ResetEra is PTSD-worthy. And they think that when, as a volunteer, they could walk away at any time rather than it being a job they're paid for, it somehow makes their experience harder.

It wouldn't surprise me that they get anxiety and trauma from moderating ResetEra, because they're thin-skinned assholes who chose to be a part of a forum made up of howler monkeys flinging their own shit around. Doesn't mean anyone has to take their 'trauma' seriously, because a bunch of mean words from angry troons hurt their feelings.

Though I will admit that I'd likely blow a gasket if I had to play nice as a mod on ResetEra. If I were one of the numerous posters on ResetEra who's from here, I would sincerely hope they weren't thinking of making me a mod. That would be foolish of them, because I couldn't keep up a pretense like that from that deep in the slime pool.

I doubt the shit even spammers post on Era is any worse than what we used to see on /b/ with all the gore and goatse. The only forum I think would actually cause PTSD to moderate is SomethingAwful, because as PC as the goons claim to be they'll still spam gore and horror pics when angered.

I doubt there's much in the way of spam at all on Era, at least of shock images. Though I wouldn't be surprised if there were occasional angry troon sprees of dick pics, given that they seem to love doing that to JK Rowling.

The Gawker family mods would get spammed frequently with disgusting stuff - much worse than what they produced. Part of that also lies with the Kinja software. I also wouldn't be surprised that it's true FB/Twitter mods, when they do get around to acting on something other a Blatant Misgendering Infringement, also have to deal with some horrible shit, as it's well-known by now there's a definite CP presence on Twitter, and I wouldn't be surprised if there was one on FB as well.

ResetEra restricting the email addresses people can use to sign up with would, I think, prevent a mass influx of that kind of shit, though, because you can't just use a burner email to sign up. Which just makes the whining about how haaaaard it is to mod there so much more laughable. Not that I don't think you can't get emotional wear and tear from having to deal with crazies all day long, but it's incredibly hard to sympathise with them when they not only chose the role and are doing it for free, but also have at every step of the way encouraged the craziest of the crazies to be as obnoxious and damaging as possible.

The correct response to anyone holding themselves hostage over leaving a fucking forum of any kind is to let them go and good riddance. But ResetEra's mods took the opposite approach - and look how that's working out for them.
