I think you'll find most journalists and devs other than Schreier who hangs around for shekels fled Resetera due to it being a zoo. Why hang around nutjobs who call everyone a Nazi and REEEE if your game has a male/female option?

You know if you have to consider ideas on how to prevent people from getting chased off your forum by angry mobs you think you'd ask yourself why you have so many angry mobs in the first place. Or at the very least when the topic of protecting people from angry mobs is met with "IF THEY GOT CHASED BY THE MOB THEY MUST HAVE DESERVED IT!!" from your community you might start connecting some dots.

I recall that blue checkmarks had a huge stigma against people with anime avatars, but it seems they eventually realized many of them were actually troons and the stigma was hushed up

A guy who uses an anime girl as his profile picture is identifying himself with a foreign person of a different age and sex. In other words, he's dissociating.

Normal people dissociate when they want to separate their real selves from their tube-selves. For people who live on the internet, creating such a facade is impossible. They are who they post as. An anime avatar thus implies a weak sense of self - a common trait for trannies and alt-shites alike.
