It's because Cyberpunk 2077, like Cyberpunk 2020 (the table-top game) makes the social-justice-warriors the bad guys. It's a factually true statement that "political correctness" and by extent newer movements like BLM and antifa are really just tools used by the elite to push the middle class around by manipulating the emotions of the poor. The game itself follows this way of thinking, rather than the "kotaku approved" SJW logic for games (like Battlefield V with the pink haired cripple lesbian protagonist in WWII).

Here's the thing: These people want the story to say "COMMUNISM IS THE ANSWER! DIVERSITY IS THE ANSWER! WOO!" except it doesn't and Cyberpunk 2077 basically is the opposite of that, because it says being forced to care about these issues makes society worse. Why? Because it's enslaving people to politics. Makes sense right?

Well, they feel "bait and switched" because they believe anti-corporate corruption should always lead to "anti-capitalist" messages ala Marx. Except that's not how it works: Corporate corruption and military/government corruption are nearly universal themes in dystopian stories. Shitty-timeline worlds that don't use these "authority is corrupted" plot devices at all are in the minority, but the point is that corporate corruption doesn't automatically mean "yay communism/socialism" and (on top of the other stuff) they're upset.

What a lot of people like this don't understand is that Japanese LGBTQ culture is different from American LGBTQ culture and many things just DO NOT translate. One particularly fucked example is in Yakuza 5 where an aging drag queen helps out Haruka by designing clothes for her. They use female pronouns for him despite the fact that he outright SAYS he's an "Okama" which from my understanding is a gay man. So the game misgenders him in the name of inclusivity? Which in turn leads to many progressive chat rooms mocking the character for being a woman that looks ugly because they don't know it's a gay man because they tried to make him trans and failed. It's kinda funny really.

Then there's the walking clusterfuck known as Ladiva in GranBlue Fantasy. Who, yes, is a "trans coded character who is really just a gay man".

But now I'm curious how cucked this poor game's translation got. As a hyper obsessive purist weeb subs only asshole, "I'm sure it's better than the original script" is the kind of phrase that makes my blood boil.

I've never read any Harry Potter anything but when it first came out I was impressed that children would actually stand in line to buy a book. In an era of plummeting literacy, just buying any book at all struck me as something good, and I wasn't going to complain about what book it was.

I ended up disappointed when Harry Potter fans ended up absolutely garbage people and SJWs ended up nearly entirely Harry Potter fans. I'm not sure if these facts are connected.
