NeoGAF & ResetERA - The Hilarious N̶e̶v̶e̶r̶e̶n̶d̶i̶n̶g̶ Splintering "Gaming" Forum Circus

I used to mod for a heavy metal forum as a favour for a friend a few years back, the forum was riddled with drama. My main emotion was bored indifferance. I think my entire attitude was summerised when someone was upset that they tried to derail everythread into "my life is so hard" and tried appealing to me with their sob story which was roughly "I honestly don't really care how you or anyone else here feels, I'm not even talking in an detached mod sense, I mean that you mean nothing to me. I'm just here to clean up when you piss yourself and show you the door if you keep doing it ".

The worst I ever felt was low dull annoyance of a customer service staff employee, if you feel anything deeper than that on the negative emotion range then leave. Mods are effectively the town sheriff dealing with the local drunk when he pisses on mrs hilda's lillies or a club bouncer 'escorting' some guy out the club because he's trying to grab the bar maids tits, they're not commisars, community leaders or police.

You don't wrangle the tards by being one.

I was a moderator on a gaming forum with decent traffic when I was a teenager. I left after a few months because I found much better uses of my time. I never felt the thrill of being an authoritarian when banning some faggot and I hated people kissing my ass because I was a moderator.

I was a paid mod in an mmo and its forum and while that could be a ball ache I never took it particularily seriously or spent more time than I could give doing it.

I've seen game forums for literally forever and I've never seen mods literally threatening to kill themselves, talking about how they're hallucinating and not eating and drinking themselves to death. As so many I was a mod in a Comics/Anime forum during my youth.
And honestly I only remember that there was not that much to moderate. But to be fair it was during a time where people were able to talk about things without going completely retarded.

People like this can never hold down a job and spend their whole lives wondering why. They never seem to figure out that companies are often brutally quick to fire new employees who start causing trouble the moment they walk in the door. It's one thing to be awkward and even uncomfortable in a new group of coworkers at first, but it's another to run crying to your boss on your second day to whine about how mean your coworkers are.

The only mistake his boss made was explaining to him that he's creating problems instead of just firing his ass on the spot.
