How is no one talking about ResetERA making $700K a year with a 80% profit margin? That shit is insane. That is lowtax levels of dummy thicc stacks for doing nothing.
At the NBA we feel it is important that we let the millionaires being paid for chasing a ball be allowed to voice their politics, even if those politics are directly disrepecting the society that allows them to make millions for playing a children's game, unless those politics run counter the CCP's mandates in which case we're going to post-haste ensure those house niggers apologize, shut the fuck up, and toe the goddamn line.

There's something poetic and sad about people paying to post on a video game forum and complain about video games, instead of having the money to buy a console and play said video games.
In a roundabout way, it realistically is. Cows like Randi Harper have historically offered 5 figures to have their ED pages deleted, and byuu was fake offering six figures to have his removed here. Thread by thread the farms is an extremely valuable site but finding someone willing to take the heat in the public rags for buying it is the hard part.

Whether or not it's immoral to not pay jannies wrangling your site for hours on end everyday, the facts remain that:
-The jannies applied to being jannies knowing full well that they're volunteering their free time to wrangle the site
-Just because a jannie is spending 12 hours a day cleaning up spew from the site, it doesn't mean Cerium should start paying them for it
Generally, places where community members apply for moderator also don't expect you to slave away for hours on end cleaning up reports, banning users etc. You're just doing it in your free time, the community/owners/admins thank you for it, but you aren't really expected to do it 8 hours a day, everyday. Cerium got lucky (?) that 20 something people are so zealous in keeping up the order on the site, but Cerium also could've just asked for more volunteers if said group of mods weren't enough.
I don't disagree that after the userbase grows to a certain size and no one else wants to be a volunteer mod you could start paying the mods to put in the time, but the lesson from this ordeal is to respect yourself and your free time enough to not slave away hours on end moderating a fucking "gaming" forum. Get a job. Get a hobby if you don't need a job. I hear fishing is "in" right now. (yes, I know some of these mods get their pecker up from having some perceived "power", but you know)

700k might have been a real number for the first year when every woke clickbait site promoted them briefly and they had all their new members and hadnt started mass banning everyone. They had game journos and developers and e-celebs around posting and shilling the site on twitter but even some of the most woke twats around soon realized the userbase were psychotic and washed their hands of it.
Even the bare minimum usefulness of ERA as a news source for sales and game announcements has been diminshed recently, banning some sales topics and an ever growing but never defined list of games banned from being covered.
The new owners say they know membership has "flatlined" but that's an extremely generous interpretation. "Bottomed out" would be more accurate
