That's interesting.

That would actually mean then that NeoGAF's subscriber numbers have NEVER been accurate. Especially considering how ban happy they've always been.

I don't think I've ever seen a vBulletin based board which does subtract bans. Total members always seems to include every account which was ever registered. Some boards do show "active members" as well, which is usually members who've logged in within the last 30 days - that's probably a more accurate figure.

This was basically how the something awful social justice offshoot handled registration. You had to be invited by a forum regular, your SA posting history was examined, your reg date had to be before a certain date, and if you did anything to fuck up the person who invited you was held accountable too.

That forum didn’t last long due a tyrannical tranny mod and infighting.

What will happen, I wonder, if ResetEra goons actually make an attempt to raid RetroGAF? So far, RetroGAF hasn't had any Discord leaks (or even associated itself with one), so there's no way of knowing if they care enough to respond beyond showing awareness.

NeoGAF prided itself on exclusivity, which lent it an air of joining a special club where people would take you seriously; in reality, you're expected to parrot the same things as everyone else or you'd get banned.

This is why their active userbase shrunk so much over the past couple of years. I'd argue it isn't nearly as bad as what happened to the SA subforums, where the same people would be talking to each other for nearly a decade while being watched over by Lowtax's own flavor of 1984-style moderation.

At least it's easy to get unbanned on SA. GAF either auto-unbanned you (if it was on a timer) or you had to pester their Twitter/any mods you knew personally.

Question: if a guy legit speaks and writes like this, then he's right because he's proud of his heritage. But if I went around as an oppressive white man speaking like that, and not even talking like crazy stereotypes such OH SHIT MUH NIGGA or anything, but pretty much like that dude wrote right there, I'd be called out for mocking him and I would be labeled as a racist. What I don't get is the outrage over this. You could label me as an asshole, or that I was disrespectful, but the amount of sheer anger over something like that is astonishing.

And my completely uneducated theory is that he isn't actually proud of his heritage. Who could blame him, his heritage sucks. Therefore there is this high level of insecurity, like going to a date with your armpits crazy sweated and you're tripping balls over the possibility of she noticing it. If the chick calls you out on it, there's a good chance you will overreact.
