There's no general immunity from arrest. However, there definitely is for arrest because of Congressional activity, both in terms of anything said on the floor as well as travel to and from. So arresting a Congressman for driving drunk would be fine but not for the purpose of stopping Congress from doing its work which would be (gasp!) insurrection!

It doesn't seem like it'd be that difficult for a lawyer (who claims on other profiles to love history) to grasp, that you can't arrest Congresspeople for doing Congressthings, which is something the Crown liked to do with Parliament (and the Romans with the Senate and so on), but alas...

What our ACAB progressives who support abolishing prisons and police for community-based rehabilitation think was the main error that Weimar Germany made was letting Hitler out of prison at all when his sentence was up.
