What's frustrating about people like this is they rarely speak their full minds about this or what laws they want to enact. What do they mean "rethink what we allow"? Is he saying that because religions sometimes teach "problematic things", they should be banned? How can they say that in one corner of their mouths and then in the other corner condemn Islamophobia? Don't they know what they do to gays and transexuals in the Middle East?

These people have no respect for differences of opinion or people deciding for themselves what they should believe. It's all just "we know best, so everyone must be like us". It's funny that they talk about Sunday school as if it is child abuse. Obviously, he doesn't know that from a religious perspective (doesn't have to be Christianity; can be almost any religion), not informing kids about how to get to heaven, achieve Nirvana, or whatever would be the ultimate form of child abuse. A living person can decide for themselves if they want to renounce the religion/philosophy they were raised in; according to most religions, a dead person can't change their eternal fate once their body is already six feet under.

Our culture is liberal enough that they subconsciously know what they're saying would be reacted to with disgust, so they have to temper it and hide it so people don't immediately recognize that they're saying they want the state to force everyone to have a single mandatory set of thoughts or face prison/death.

What's funny is, as you noted, the instant you put the right group up for them to acceptably hate they immediately drop their relativism and demand enforcement of The Truth™ on everyone.

I've heard all kinds of crazy yet plausible theories about that, ranging from Peter Pan Syndrome to being brainwashed by episodic television making them expect things to never change from the status quo and being unable to progress and remain stagnant, just like the characters they watch.

I'm not arrogant enough to say that I have a definite answer for sure, but I do think it's a good topic for someone to do research on. If nothing else, it's just Gerascophobia en masse.

I was afraid of that. But I don't think they would want to stop there. Without how much people like them complain about internalized misogyny, internalized racism, internalized homophobia, etc., and "unconscious bias", I have a sinking feeling they don't just want to decide what people are allowed to say, they also want to control what people are allowed to think. Not sure how they would accomplish that but I'm guessing it would involve Communist levels of brainwashing techniques and random tests.
