As much as I loathe reddit, the ReseteraInAction sub documented this entire debacle. I was honestly surprised to see nothing had been posted about it here.

Essentially, users were complaining that the administration was too trigger-happy whenever someone criticized Hamas AND disturbingly lenient when it came to antisemitism, especially after one guy was banned for claiming Hamas was holding "sex slaves", despite the fact that he was quoting a UN report. Nepenthe was being directly mentioned as an antisemite in their ranks, and then B-Dubs locked the thread because those famous pro-Palestine tweets she made were apparently sourced from here. Of course, the jannies used that to shut down discussion.

As far as I can tell, that's the gist of it, but do take into account that I didn't go through the entire thread.

So, ERA pushes the narrative of a trans genocide (because some states don't want children to go through genital mutilation), while Nepenthe wanting 7 million jews to disappear somehow doesn't meet the definition.

ERA's gone so far to the left, they've goosestepped into 1930s Germany.

There's also that one moderator waded in to quibble about the definition of sex slaves because simply holding people captive and raping them doesn't count as that. They were really covering themselves in disgrace.

Plagiaize then came back with "boo hoo, you guys are going to let Trump win." Which given there was more discussion about the ban for accusing Hamas of sexual slavery and arguing about it than the Trump, Biden and Musk bait thrown out over several pages.


I believe in what this community can be and what it can do. You wanted answers about the ban, I volunteered to be the one to answer the questions in here about what the team saw as wrong with Brady's post. I felt you deserved an explanation even as I knew most wouldn't like it and that the anger over it would come my way. To be clear, no one on the mod or admin side forced me to do anything, nor dictated what I said. I stand by my posts and if you take issue with them, don't let them make you take issue with everyone with a mod or admin badge.

I believe this community is what it is at least in part because of moderation, not inspite of it.

I will be doing what I think helps spread the word to as many people as I can exactly what the stakes are for this coming election and how stark the differences between Biden and Trump are. Whether any of this has any value to anyone that's all I can offer right now, so that's where I leave it for tonight.

This page they suddenly back track and claim that actually the ban is because the sex slavery claim was presented as fact and that's the issue because it's not been verified. As we know, Reeee is big on benefit of the doubt when it comes to accusations of rape.

If Brady hadn't made it sound like the UN had established these things as a fact then he wouldn't have been banned.

Another poster notes that there was a Twitter link which has now been nuked, that was the message they were banned but because of how egregious whatever Nepenthe's twitter post is the mods have to delete the post.


This fellow is interestingly not banned currently

Some questions for B-Dubs and his fellow staff members regarding the allegations made on the previous page:
  • Is it true that the site Admin believes that Israel should no longer exist? Yes or no?
  • If they do hold the position that Israel should no longer exist, I would be grateful if they could come in here and explain their stance.
  • If they don't hold the position that Israel should no longer exist, then the Admin in question (or a fellow staff member) should probably clarify their position before the allegations become toxic.
  • Lastly, is the belief that Israel should no longer exist held by any other members of staff? If so, are B-Dubs and the site owners aware of this? And are they happy for staff member(s) to hold this stance on Israel?

So apparently both CreepingFear and treble used Kiwifarms in an attempt to dox a staff member (which is obvious grounds for a permanent ban), but I'm left with more questions than answers. How did they even do that? I saw no mention of that website in their public post history

You swore up and down that a certain staff member wasn't an antisemite. Those tweets - which you have now seemingly confirmed as theirs - prove otherwise. Saying 7 million Israelis who have lived there for generations need to leave is nakedly antisemitic - ESPECIALLY when that conversation started on October 7th.

You may have been able to handwave the "collective nation of Jewish people" comments before, but now? No, no, absolutely not.

The people are not getting restless, finding out Nephente posted the offend tweet on October 7th is not helping.

BDubs posts receipts of KiwFarms being used to find the tweets. At this most posters in the thread immediately go "oh well then the bans are justified and our mods are blameless."

Kiwifarms shouldn't be used by anyone. Fully support any action being taken to stop Kiwifarms being used or visited by anyone. It's never justifiable.

The fact people are taking SSs from discords that were literally set up by people who aren't on this site, and then using them to moderate on the site, makes me feel very... weird. And means I'm going to lock down a lot of discord related stuff from now on that I'm involved with (not that I would ever visit Kiwifarms, fuck that place and anything linked to them).

Finally, now we've established that off-site behaviour can lead to repercussions, can we *please* get some response to the fact you have an admin who is openly anti-semitic and has called for the state of Israel to be removed?

I obviously don't support doxxing and I don't know what kiwifarms even is. But holding this up and a shield doesn't change the fact that an admin still advocated what they did. If they got that info in bad ways, fine, they should be banned I don't support that. But it doesn't change that it who the admin was was exposed and it's problematic.

Also. You can use screenshots of a discord conversation but people can't use screenshots of a public twitter? Total hypocrisy.

People were asking for an explanation for why we banned Brady. I shared one because i genuinely felt you deserved one, and because i genuinely felt the ban message didn't go far enough to highlight the problem. People disagreed with our reasoning. I stood by it. I really don't know what else I can do at this point.

Next time I will think twice before volunteering to try and shine some light on why we banned someone because nothing constructive came of it. It certainly doesn't feel like anyone here appreciated my efforts to explain how the mod team saw things.

One user's got hidden content only for those who've replied in the thread and another requests a permaban from the politics era stuff. Given they were some of the more vocally pissed things start to calm and return to cheering Biden for correcting his use of the word "illegal" to describe a rapist murderer who illegally in the country.

Forgot where I was reading for a moment, I almost felt sorry for these people. Back to watching them get what they deserve.

Members of staff have been specifically targeted by off-site harassers and we have reason to believe that members of the discord of this community may have taken part.
