It's about signaling they're part of the ingroup. They would never dare to make these posts in a thread that's going a different direction and to explain why they wouldn't they would insist on it being a different situation regarding the person when in almost none of these cases did they actually ever truly construct an opinion on the person in the first place.

The ratchet effect of a socially and culturally enforced dishonesty is that all forms of dishonesty for social purpose become more obvious and blatant because the practitioners are no longer even thinking about the reasons why they're doing it.

Remember that these dudes think they're the intelligent, omnisciently informed and complex ones when they all deliberately copy each other all the time and constantly fear of being placed in the always expanding outgroup.

I’ll be honest, while Stellar Blade ain’t my cup of tea and I’ll admit to rolling my eyes at its character designs, the malding it’s evoking from the Reset Era crowd makes it okay in my book.

The people who are on the opposite end are just as cringe with how they’re propping it up to be some big MOAB in the video game culture wars, though.

Either way, the salt is plentiful!

The important thing is for the people who make video games to be able to make the games they want to make, without censors and wokescolds bossing them around. Even if it's not your kind of thing, every time you see a "Stellar Blade" appear, it's proof that some people still have artistic freedom.

That is true. With Stellar Blade though, it's worth noting the game is from South Korea and their games are notorious for having very same-y designs (never mind the fact it also follows their equally notorious cultural beauty standards) when it comes to females and having them be scantily clad/nearly naked. If you look at games like Black Desert Online or the SK version of LostArk, you'll see this kind of artistic license all over the place. It's what prints money and, well, developers are gonna go where the money is printed. Never underestimate a horny guy wanting some 3D tiddies and ass.

I do lament with games in the West that, while we've come a long way with female characters being treated better(ish) in comparison to male characters, it veered into major overcorrections and now people are terrified or cowed into compromising their artistic visions to avoid an angry mob that, if we're being realistic, makes up a tiny fraction of people who would actually play a game. The same kinds of people who whine about scantily clad female characters are likely the ones who'll use mods in Final Fantasy 14 to make their character look like a big breasted, barely clothed street girl that only they can see with assets ripped from these same SK MMOs like LostArk or Black Desert Online. (And I can guarantee you a lot of these ResetEra users complaining about this game also do this kind of modding in other games as well)

Its almost like Shift Up created Stellar Blade with the sole intention of it being the single greatest rage baiting fuck you to the deviants at Reestera.

Just the fact its not a walking simulator is usually enough to get them flipping out, but this being not a walking simulator with added tits and ass is the equivalent of a Hiroshima level event over there at troon central.
