NeoGAF & ResetERA - The Hilarious N̶e̶v̶e̶r̶e̶n̶d̶i̶n̶g̶ Splintering "Gaming" Forum Circus

Is there a name for that kind of fuckery? Where someone posts an intentionally ambiguous math question with poor wording or notation, but it's just troll bait for pedants & idiots to argue over? Facebook would not stop showing me that garbage for months.

Not exactly surprising that the ResetEra crowd falls for it. They can't resist enganging and moral grandstanding, even if it's over content that is clearly just bad faith trolling.

I can only imagine Princess Bubblegum, or someone like them, was part of the accounting department at my old workplace
(the one where the company had to go begging for investment after the annual accounts audit revealed their finances were a complete train wreck, at least two years running)

Of course, the writer for the gamer has the dumbest post in the topic, literally too retarded to even understand the premise. It's an actual example of the "low IQ people cannot understand hypotheticals" meme.
But I did eat breakfast this morning that consisted of twice as many eggs as I had for breakfast.

It's called trolling. People do that on 4chan all the time to draw out the retards. Like posting the Monty Hall problem. Or for bonus points, posting it but deliberately phrasing it ambiguously.

Or saying "I did a 360 and walked out of there" to see how many people start reeeeeeing at the meme and correcting it.

RetardEra managed to be dumber than the dumbest dumbasses on 4chan. I think it's actually almost an accomplishment they somehow managed to turn it into about hating America at the same time. That makes sense, since America's educational system clearly failed these speds.

It's called a logic puzzle.

A bit shocking to see 60% vote for the wrong answer when it's a multiple-choice question with the correct answer right there. I don't have high expectations for a place like Resetera, but damn.

lol @ the anime avatar sperging out about price and cost being the same (as all Harvard economics professors know)

it's not even a logic puzzle, it's a very simple algebra problem expressed verbally - out of all the users screenshotted above, "plagiarize" was the only one who understood this

Yeah, people have posted videos, websites, and their own written up versions of this as proofs, and tons of posters refuse to believe and and just say its fake, or try to bring in stuff about how its impossible because no book would cost $1, or how there's no sales tax, etc.

This just goes on and on for 17 pages so far. A few people explain the exact methodology for getting the answer, people have found the math textbook the problem is from, they post sources and proofs, even asking chatgpt for the answer. Then the same people go "That doesn't make any sense! What about..." and then just make up random shit that was in no way included in the problem.

Im really really just wanting Nep or one of the other super blacks to chime in and then suddenly anyone who disagrees gets banned for disagreeing with a minority on a sensitive subject.

I hope they ban the topic creator for ableism.

The "trick" is that it is using price and cost as identical amounts.

Anyone who has worked in most industries knows that the cost of creating something is not necessarily the price you sell it as. As such saying "well duh, the price is the same as the cost" is a smug logic game that only works if both price and cost are confirmed as the same amount. You could take it a step further and use the words value, worth or any number of other terms but unless you engage honestly and admit that all the words mean the same amount it's semantic wordplay.

Example - political party has 100 votes plus half its value. What is its support from voters?

Until you clarify that its value and support are the same and measured using votes an accurate answer cannot be gained.

Ironically it's actually a perfect example to use on Reeee who absolutely believe that everything can be manipulated to remove the subjective values from things.

How do I make a silly reddit math riddle about how much I hate the America?

I tried to skim the topic to see if theres any more hot takes but its 99% retards arguing semantics and getting trolled by TCs purposefully poorly worded riddle.

At least this guy having a melty is funny. He has like 2 dozens posts chimping out.

I just started skipping posts because I wanted to see the mods posts to see how stupid they are, and hoped for Nep running her mouth saying math was racist.

Those are the people that want to dictate how you should think. Let's that sink in.

Ree horrified by rhetoric that they themselves apply to basically everyone who slightly disagrees with them.

What else do you call a people that claims to be victims when they're the ones that keep starting conflicts? They are inferior stone age cunts who still think someday that land will be theirs. Basically trying to smash a boulder by hitting it over and over until your fist disintegrates.

They really trying to claim they don't consider any country that is rigorously anti-LGBT as inferior to their own?

This thread is so fascinating to me. Its not that the math is hard, or that these retards made a huge argument over a poorly worded math riddle (we've all been on gamefaqs or 4chan or LUE or something discussing 1=.9999~ or one of those poorly worded PEDMAS questions). After all, most people will likely make mistakes when being told to use algebra, something most of us our age likely haven't used in this way in almost 15-20 years.

Its that when presented with a dozen different proofs, videos, the literal original source explaining the proof, the people still chimp out and claim ableism, or that it can't possibly be $2 because <insert literal random made up thing>. Normal people would go "Huh, that makes sense! I just forgot how to math like this after working as a office workers for 15 years." or "Heh! You got me! Thanks for telling me the real answer, I will now show this to my friends and crank them too." and move on. Resetera blames the messenger and act like victims.

I REALLY want Nep or Slayven to chime in. Where are the peak browns at? I want to see their really stupid take before they blame white colonialism or something

How is it poorly worded?
Cost and Price mean two different things, but the wording is using them interchangeably, which really fucks up a lot of the autistic people. Its translated from russian originally, so it may or may not have this distinction in their language. People are arguing about missing commas, that it should be "as well as" instead of "plus", that sort of thing. People arguing that "plus" means something optional and not required for the answer to be right (???).

Its not really that poorly worded for a math problem in a math book, but for the sort of people who use Resetera, their brains immediately latch onto some interpretation thats incorrect and literally refuse to alter their original reading.
