It's a pretty normal fantasy scenario you might expect from a literal teenager, the amount of detail they put into those characters is impressive.

It reminds me of threads I've seen on livejournal, or tumblr, or niche anime forums. But again, they have the excuse of being marginalized 14 year-olds who escape to fantasy to cope with the complete lack of control over their own life. The benefit of roleplay and fantasy archetypes is having a clear blueprint for how other people will behave, what exactly to expect. This appeals to those still figuring out social dynamics on the fly, and those still struggling to grasp how complex or unique the average person can be. Characters come prepackaged, you already know their life story

But this is a middle-aged dude, right?

The entire thread is resetera bitching about it. How dare you do this. No fun allowed. Like, I get that it is a mess that needs to be cleaned up, but it's an exception. Just some "fun" meme happening, like people attending the Minions ? movie in suits or the New Kids movie, where people were just drunk and having a good time. It's rare enough that it is kinda endearing and not the end of the world.

It's just extra funny because you know they wouldn't say shit about this if it was black kids doing it (who actually are known to do this kind of shit on the regular). They're only moralizing because it's mostly white kids getting excited about the nerdcraft movie.
