Is it that much different getting a driver's license elsewhere ? And of course you have to take a first aid course. People don't have to do that outside of Germanistan ?

Why on earth would you need to take a first aid course to drive a car.

In the US, the whole process is almost entirely free unless you need to pay for some sort of training course, which is almost always just for adults from NYC or something who need to learn to drive at 30, or the disabled. Almost every person gets a learner's permit at 14/15, takes driver's ed for free in public school, has a parent help them learn to drive with the permit, then they take the test for free at 16 and never need to take another exam. There might be a small fee depending on district to take the test.

The driving tests are almost always very simple. Mine had me drive onto the roads, drive around a few places, circle around, and come back to park at the DMV. There was no cones or parallel parking or anything like that.

Ok that sounds wildly different from how it is here in the Fourth Reich. Shit is expansive, which has gotten even worse. There is a big written exam with a lot of potential question to learn. You have to drive a mandatory amount of hours in addition to driving on the autobahn, in the night and so on. The final test is a culmination of various things depending on the whims of the instructor.

As for the first aid course, you are required to have a first aid kit in your car at all times. And it makes sense to know how to use its contents and how to do CPR. Not to mention that you are required to help other people, technically It's enough to call an ambulance/police. Since failing to do so is a punishable offense.

Interesting to hear how different it is in the US.

Well, we have a written test to get your driver's permit, but its obviously easy enough for a teenager to pass. Its usually things like knowledge of road signs, knowledge of basic car functions, basic laws and such. There will be an image like "These three cars are turning at this intersection, who has the right of way" and "what does this color mean on a road sign."

Then you are supposed to drive for X hours in the car under various conditions with a licensed adult, but the person who "certifies" that you did so will be your parent or something. Then you take the driving test with someone from the DMV. Some states or cities will have harder tests, but there is nothing that says you need to take them there. You can go out into the boonies and take a test that just makes you drive in a bunch of circles to get an easy pass. Then you can get your license at 16 to drive alone, but its a limited one until you turn 18. The limits are usually "you cant drive alone at night unless you have school or job" or whatever such things. If you are caught breaking the laws with a limited license, then its way easier to revoke it.

We dont have any sort of nonsense that the brits do where you need to learn to drive a stick shift and take the test with a stick shift or else you're considered an untouchable indian. Manual transmissions are almost entirely phased out in the US because they're both more difficult to use, fail more, and are less fuel efficient than automatic, so there would be no need to a manual driver license test.

Probably similar in that it's something that could have a purpose if done right but will inevitably be ruined by hardliners who label any game with the merest hint of AI as if it's completely vibe coded or with a single non-sexy female character as woke.

I lost my job in layoffs due to AI so I have more reason than most to hate it and even I find ResetEra's rabid hate boner whenever they even think they get a whiff of it retarded.
