I figured out the real reason for the ban. They're a Jewish person whose first language is not English. Therefore there's a pretty good chance that they're Israeli, thus their ban is for being a white person in the middle east that pretends to be oppressed while actually oppressing the true and honest brown people who are totally peaceful and never did nothing wrong ever.

I was doing research on the history of racism in videogames and found this great NPR piece by Gene Demby about Street Fighter's racist problems:

The Street Fighter franchise has generated a lot of money over the years.. But at what cost?

Amazingly, this all could have been even more ridiculous. Here's the game designer Yoshiki Okamoto on Chun-Li, the game's lone female character and a fan favorite:

"You know how each character has a life bar? At one point, I wanted to make the power gauge for Chun-Li shorter than for the other characters because women are not as strong. But [another designer] didn't want to do that. We both had legitimate reasons, but then we came to an agreement to not make it shorter."
Yikes, glad this was fixed..

Old men ride by on bikes, passing stalls where people cheer on the fight while... choking the necks of chickens.

The people appear uncivilized, their living standards are extremely low and they appear barbaric and cruel. It's as unflattering as Chun Li's outfit, which barely covers her crotch.
he story rounded up all of the game's developers and artists and programmers — a group of eccentrics from America and Japan who sound like they were a bunch of HR nightmares. But despite all this, the game became a monster hit

Basically, Ryu, the Japanese guy, and Guile, the american guy, are the cool alpha male silent types, while the others are massive negative stereotypes from their countries.

The developpement team was a mix of american and Japanese developers..

You can find many scanned documents and books online about the design of SF2 showing more of this ethnicity-based design for SF2.

In a way, you kinda get that the designers went for an 'international tournament' feel, but was it necessary to exploit those stereotypes? SFV had some pretty problematic controversies around clothing and soundtrack samples, but is it time for Capcom to perhaps for a clean slate for SF6?

What about positive stereotypes? They fucking exist, and are generally ruthlessly praising of a given race or nationality's best aspects. They exist because like all stereotypes, they are fucking generalizations, and generally people have both good and bad sides. In fact, let's go over a few of them right now.

Also since I feel like punching this asshole's argument in the face some more:

You probably didn't notice it, NPR, what with conveniently ignoring the Hammer and Sickle when convenient, but don't worry, I'll point it out for you since you didn't. Street Fighter 2 was made less than 2 years after the Berlin Wall came down. The USSR was starting to break down, and Zangief's involvement in the tournament was to specifically show the world that Russia was still relevant. The dude's a national hero, in much the same way that a lot of other Russian athletes were at the time. Street Fighter 2 itself takes place during the 80s, as is evidenced by literally every fucking stage in the game. Looking in the backgrounds of every stage will show you signs of it everywhere.

FFS, Zangief's adventure in piledriving fuckers takes place when Boris Yeltzin is alive. Did you just forget that Zangief honest-to-god dances with him in his ending? THIS IS A THING THAT FUCKING HAPPENED. Why is this relevant?

This was the middle of the fucking Perestroika initiative. Zangief's stage was a goddamned factory because the dude was a fucking Order of Lenin winner. Russians were actually this drunk during this time because the economy sucked that badly and watching a Russian hero that everyone liked pile-drive some weeaboo fireball-throwing nutjob so you can ignore half your fucking shift is a good time for all. You'd be this drunk too if you had mile-long breadlines.

I covered this dumb shit in my Namco x Capcom LS, and it's not even true, at least not in that sense.

Rose's own power is basically an inverse version Bison's Psycho Power. The two of them are yin and yang in that sense only, not that he's a tranny.

And the other half is that Bison is a typically vain evil overlord who likes having power over women, and forcing one to be his soul jar is the epitome of his power fantasies. Granted, he at one point tried to body jack Ryu, but that's because he figured he'd get more power and a body that could handle it on top of his own powers.

The man jacks off to power, not to being a woman, and Capcom has never released any proof in any canon material stating otherwise, so the idiots claiming Bison is a tranny need to quit ODing on the spiro already.

This is also an interesting post, seems the site's downtime while Malka was getting #metoo'ed was due to DDOS attacks. I have a suspicion that some people really wanted things to end up in a splinter site that they run.

Also, apparently some of the crazies tried to get ex-Gaffers fired from their jobs if they didn't disavow Malka and his site.
