Meanwhile, NeoGAF's Gamergate discussion is not only ongoing, but actually letting Pro-GG people talk (@Jaimas will probably do many :islamic: things with strange headache's postings). Not to mention that Jordan Peterson discussions are fully open. They have a Kanye thread. There's even an amir0x update thread!

At any point previously even discussing the movement at all beyond outright condemnation carried the penalty of being a ban-worthy trespass. Seeing that shit on GAF is fucking surreal.

Keep in mind that Tyler is still firmly Anti-GG (he made a post on the thread, I capped it a while back), but he still kept the discussion open as long as it was civil, most bans there are due to people breaking that rule.
The forum itself is far more readable and tolerable nowadays, the only issue imo is that they need more transparency with Ban reasons, sure, they look comedic on ERA threads, but immediately knowing why a person got banned is better than not knowing, especially if the reason is legitimate.

Recently, RetardERA had a thread on Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and we immediately hit a bit of thermonuclear autism on the part of the mod staff, where anyone complimenting Lara's new design or asked for clarification why it was offensive was given a banhammer swing:
Very quickly, the Moderators and Admins of ResetERA had a problem; they were so heavy-handed with this shit that they'd openly banned like 14 people in 2 pages, and the userbase took notice.
Within a few pages, all discussion was of Mod/Admin overreach. Those who participated in discussing mods/admin abuse of authority were immediately banned.
People who brought up rote hypocrisy from said mods were also instantly banned.

Finally, the thread ends as probably the biggest shithead on ResetERA (and that's saying a lot) emerged, and caught a facefull of criticism, ultimately locking the thread and blaming misogyny.
What in the actual fuck.
How can that website maintain traffic? Why would anyone want to be part of such community run by totalitarians limp dicks sjws?

That would be the same Ryulong who was knowingly doing edits of Wikipedia on behalf of CON.
He's a major reason the GG article on Wikipedia is such a shit-show, responsible for over 20% of its edits by the time he got banned from the site entirely.

I'd say that the Resetera is like the early USSR. The very top brass is run by ideologues but they keep around some "reactionary forces" to keep things running. As stated before long ago, the OT gaming threads mainly discuss games largely uncensored like any other gaming forum and are managed by veteran members who keep the threads clean through the report function and stay uninvolved with all of the political and "political" threads. Even the anime thread is given similar treatment. Only a few game threads have the misfortune of having a dedicated moderator fucking with things but in those threads the mods usually act a bit less crazy.
People invite their friends over to that forum where they have a few threads they post in and occasionally stray from for leaks.

Fucking hell. They genuinely don't get it. They genuinely don't think that if an actual real Nazi government comes to power they will use this sort of precedent to clamp down on their rhetoric and memes and opinions. But then again, why would they. They seem to think that just screeching about being on the right side of histoREEEEEEEEEEE will protect them.

From what I've seen skimming through the first page, I've seen multiple viewpoints being discussed rationally without dogpiling or a dumbass mod shitting up the place (even someone disgruntled by comic book characters being blackwashed didn't get shat upon). I even kind of like the new layout of the site, as it sort of reminds me of the Farms.
While I'm not sure if it's a great site (I'll need to see more of it to decide), I can certainly say that the new NeoGAF is a far superior discussion forum than ResetERA and the old NeoGAF. This sort of thread on those sites would've been a one-sided affair with tons of users getting banned.

These idiots think they’re going to lead the revolution and be in charge if a habdmaids revolution occurs.
These idiots get can’t off twatter for 5 minutes to lead a revolution. They hate guns and don’t know how to use them. The majority of gun owners are conservative/Christians. But yah a bunch of millennials that have zero ambition will lead and win a revolution.

They also don't seem to understand that if there was any sort of secession or revolution, Gileadite or otherwise, the Federal government would send in the troops like a ferret up a trouser leg and would be completely entitled to do it. If the Civil War proved anything, it was that once a state is in the Union it cannot leave under any circumstances whatever. In the novel of the Handmaid's Tale the only reason Gilead worked was because the Federal government was effectively decapitated by false-flag terrorist attacks and they used the confusion engendered by same to take over New England.

My favorite part about "Muh Handmaiden's tale" is that the author based the society in the novel off of of Iran's Islamic republic. They even have modesty police and bearded rulers in robes who are called clerics for fucks sake.
