Not that hard to find them shitting on "just a joke". I personally do think the comments should be treated as jokes and be treated as no big deal.

This narrative is being created out of nowhere. It's pretty bizarre, and also a crazy 'hill to die on'. No one talks about Mike Cernovich except for people with trump derangement syndrome, he's not relevant in the slightest. It's super reasonable that a children-oriented mega-corp might drop someone with a long list of bad/cringy/unwitty pedophile "jokes" before it becomes part of a larger news cycle. I didn't even know who this Gunn guy was until ResetEra started autistically screeching about it.
These people think about gamergate more than the average gamer gater.

They gotta to tie it to things they don't like. While Gunn's firing could no doubt have some relation to Cernovich in some sense, the idea of it being GamerGate or like GamerGate is laughable when considering that even though said edgy tweets are years old, Disney might think having someone that made those could be some sort of liability for image. Last thing the Mouse could want is anything family unfriendly being associated with Disney.

I'm confused... aren't these the same people who throw hissy fits if any un-PC content ends up in video games? Why are they so big on defending James Gunn for making pedophile jokes? I mean, I can see someone saying "He did this years ago, he's changed, it shouldn't be a big deal worth getting fired over," that can be a reasonable argument. But they're acting like this is some evil conspiracy to remove Mr. Gunn from Hollywood for... reasons? What is he allegedly being 'silenced' about?

Gunn actually went to bat for Duplass saying "Ben Shapiro is a pretty good egg, talks genuinely and accepts my disagreement." Thing is, Gunn said, "Don't get mad at Duplass being cordial when there are actual Nazis we have to worry about."
