NeoGAF & ResetERA - The Hilarious N̶e̶v̶e̶r̶e̶n̶d̶i̶n̶g̶ Splintering "Gaming" Forum Circus

Pokemon is for kids and yet it's played by a lot of adults, complete with people making horrid porn of it (the one meth face looking Pikachu should come to mind). Surely someone should think of the children

There are 18 base Pokémon types, which variously deal normal, super-effective, not-very-effective or zero damage to each of the other types. The chart for these resultant 324 interactions alone is unwieldy:

but then one has to consider that certain Pokémon have dual typing. Combined with IV breeding, items and move prediction, I would venture to call it the deepest and most complex turn-based PvP videogame there is.

Or, in meme form:

A lot of people were playing Pokemon in college, and they're now damn near 40. I think the idea that it should be shunned by people of advancing age is silly. Like the idea that reading graphic novels should be abandoned once a person reaches X age. Or video games for that matter. Times change. Try to keep up.
There's a reason for that old CS Lewis quote:
CS Lewis said:
Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.

I like the blatant hypocrisy of them having no problem with the left-wing equivalent "russian bots".

I think "understanding hypocrisy" was one of those things they promised to implement but didn't get around to before they released Contrarian_Schitzo_1.0.

Crossposting my screencaps from the NPC thread in A&H:

Fun drinking game where you read the ERA thread and take a shot every time someone unironically uses "Russian bots" or "Nazis" and see how many pages you can get through before you die.

I mean, it's pretty fun but you can only play it once.

Maybe one day they'll understand the fun in these memes is having the out-of-touch media overreacting and idiots like Resetera shitting themselves over it. They're jokes, not secret codes to brainwash kids into becoming fascists or trying to enact a second holocaust. It's fun to see your shitty MS paint edits of cartoon frogs show up on CNN reports about how they're tools for recruiting Nazis.

I always considered the best part of the NPC meme was that it's simply the natural endpoint of all the "russian bots" bullshit

Remember how "fake news" was also started by Hillary, and then shitlibs started shrieking about how terrible it was to attack the news media when Trump started using it himself.

TotalBiscuit is going to be inducted into the ESL Hall of Fame (Archive) as the first non-player ever in it.

Of course, ReeeEra isn't pleased about this. (Archive)

I look at these interpretations of reality, and try to think of responses that would actually shift their minds. I'm never successful, but the exercise helps. If I ever figured it out, no doubt I would be the next Henry Kissinger and negotiate World Peace with that speechcraft. In the meantime I just silently fume at the ignorance and try not to a-log.
