Back on Neogaf (or was it still GAF back then?) they used to obsess over how many copies each game sold every month. NPD is a company that tracks retail numbers and sells that info to investors or somebody, and GAF used to have giant monthly threads discussing leaked sales numbers from NPD. They supposedly got in some legal trouble about a decade ago and banned posting that info publicly on the boards after that. I think Resetera gets a pass on this one.

I think it was shutdown on GAF in part because the sales data identified the leakers* unless truncated. I'm not sure exactly what kind of legal claim the NPD was making other than it would start trouble of some kind. Then Evilore made a side agreement to get the NPD summary with no numbers in exchange for banning any leaks. For a long time you could refer to a Twitter leaker but not directly post it.

*NPD puts something like 167,845 in your report and 167,823 in mine, the extra digits are statistically meaningless, so when someone who didn't realize this posts it they knew where it came from.

Their's an interesting aspect to their identity that their sense of self is so fragile that the incorrect pronoun is seen as a personal attack as though your pronoun is a sacred aspect of yourself as opposed to useful frame of referance.
Considering how little thought normal people give to weither their called Female or Woman and how little time you spend on the concept. I don't introduce my nouns because it's obvious and isnt particulary relavent to who I am as a person.
These poor saps are so boring and devoid of meaning that when describing themselves they do the equivelant of describing their eye colour.

I was a member of ResetEra almost since the beginning and I really enjoyed the discussion there ABOUT VIDEOGAMES. I'd usually avoid the off-topic shit. Last December/January I made the mistake (or maybe it was the best decision of my life?) of commenting on a thread about Louis CK being "trans-phobic" and insensitive about school shootings or whatever the fuck. My mistake was saying I found his material funny. BAM, instant ban. That truly opened my eyes. I consider myself a left liberal, and that was true insanity before my eyes. Last month I finally made the decision of self-banning myself, a decision that was long overdue. Fuck ResetEra. Seriously, a place that considers themselves to be very welcome to all kinds of people ends up being one of the most toxic places I've ever visited in the internet.

Did you also witness when they attacked the creator of Rime for a bunch of made up and imagined reasons? Guy didn't do anything other than make a low poly game and they tried to get him blacklisted because someone else who they liked better was also making a low poly game(he was using the default free generic assets that everyone gets).

Welcome to the Farms! If you're looking for a place to discuss video games, this place is far better than ResetERA since we tend to stay on topic. Really, just about anywhere else is better than ResetERA, including Reddit, Game Faqs, and even NeoGAF these days.

The only good thing to come out of that hellhole is all the delusional horseshit they bray out for our amusement.

Thing I enjoyed about ResetEra was how active it was and how quick the news were published. It was my gaming news daily source. I haven't really found a worthy substitute on that regard alone. Maybe it's for the best, I just read other stuff lately.

I remember seeing a Vault Boy on ResetEra, you ever wandered around the place? Just curious.
