Its been a while and no matter how hard I look I cant find a single reason that website is valued so high.

So what will happen with ERA going forward.
Note this is just rando speculating on the internet so take it with a grain of salt. But it is what I believe.
Admins and mods will remain. They will not be replaced and will, with some exceptions I come back to later, be allowed to continue mostly as they are today. After all, these are tards that are willing to work 8-10 hours a day for no compensation other than the powertrip of being an admin/mod and this gives a lot of leniency from MOBA for any transgressions.
The GeneralManager however will very quickly be replaced with some employee over at MOBA headquarter. This is not a full time position, maybe a few hours a week to just keep an eye on the site and that the monetization goes according to plan.
His job is to oversee the monetization, and protect the investment.
He will be making sure that the transition to much more aggressive advertizing goes smoothly. He will be adding direct sales, monetizing features, etc behind the scenes but he will not participate in the site itself or the users, except in special cases.
He will from time to time talk to the admins and make sure they are all on the same page and if neccessary councel the admins when they do things that hurts profitability.
His job is basically to drive monetization, and I expect this to include things like much more aggressive focus on ads but also grow the userbase so I expect the registration process will absolutely be opened up.
But for the day to day running of the site, he will mostly not care. If ERA wants to keep the openly racist Nep as an admin, he will not care. Do whatever you want. So he will be completely handsoff, EXCEPT when shit happens and users/mods try to sabotage or damage the profatibility of the investment.
When this happens he WILL step in and behind locked doors tell mods/admins to stop doing that shit or even just kick them off the site with a permaban.
Two recent things that would definitely get him involved almost immediately once he finds out would be:
1, SalesERA breaking off from the site. This is a really big deal and here I think he would instantly kick everyone directly involved off the site, and he would give warnings to everyone else among admins/mods that "they should stay out of it".
He would also personally reach out to "chris?" and appologize for what happened, the people involved are kicked off the site and could he please consider coming back to ERA? He would butter up to chris and let chris know he is an important creator that they do not want to lose and if there are any issues whatsoever in the future, chris can reach out directly to the GM and he will sort it out.
2, Antagomizing and laughing when they drove Seik off the site. This was also an important creator but not as big as chris. I think in this case Morrigan and QueenVulpix would be instabanned but the admins that were involved might just get away with a warning.
But again, the GM would personally reach out to Seik and try to get him to stay (and create content that creates eyeballs on ads and puts coin in MOBAs purse)
TL;DR
Replace General Manager, increase ads, open up registration but let everyone continue as before, EXCEPT if they do something that hurts profatibility and then the response will be swift.
If someone goes in to actually try to drive monetization and to drive it hard then they will increase the profits by several multiples.

Easy. They are generating over 500k$ in pure profit per year without even trying to monetize the site.

That fact that members have been pushing back shows there's some people there who aren't completely far gone. Why they continue to stay when the staff have demonstrated that they secretly hate them at best, and openly attack them/try to sabotage them at worst is beyond me.

They're likely not the only ones bidding in this acquisition, so the price gets bid up. Plus you also have to factor in this is a long term investment and someone looking at the 700k is probably thinking they could turn that into 1.25mm with a marketing team behind it.

Nothing afoot at all. It means that in less than 7 years, they'll have made their initial investment back, and that's if they just keep things at current levels. If they put even a small amount of effort in, they can easily push that to under 5 years. Plus it's part of a larger group of forums now, so they can get rid of any existing paid staff, and just use the guys they're already paying. I imagine the same goes server equipment etc. All in all, it's not really a terrible purchase investment wise.

wow. if i owned a site where my users and mods/janitors hated my guts, i would sell it without a second thought. this site will ban you if you make a positive comment about a movie or game that had a dental tech assistant who was seen not donating to BLM at a grocery store, but will also call black people every racial slur in the book because they disagree with them.

Soliloquy of a Dogge uses it and "coon" regularly against black people, and it's allowed because it's "policing the Black community" same with Uncle Tom, etc. The mods have explained many times that using racial slurs against individual minorities you don't like is not racism and that they will not moderate users who do it.
I generally assume almost everyone who does any of this is actually white.
