GAF was filled with people asking for invitations to Resetera as it crashed and burned. Cerium and many of Resetera's mods/users were fully and openly allowed to wander the various threads promoting the site and offering invitations while their users posted porn, gore, racist memes, and asked for bans. While Tyler set the conditions for his own destruction you have to credit him for at least allowing users to openly migrate away from the site like that.
I remember during that time specifically speaking to Cerium on GAF about how I felt GAF was already too restrictive as it was, and that setting Resetera policies like "don't talk about the old place" was even more restrictive, and he called me "delusional", so I showed him the exact line in his policy where it said that, and of course he never replied.
Many of the users still carry the mindset of that old policy; still referring to the site as "the old place".
I used to wonder how societies in our history could become totalitarian, racist, or fascistic... It just seemed so alien to me. We as a society had learned so much, we came to value individualism and freedom of information. I couldn't even imagine how someone could hold the thought that ideas should be censored. It seemed impossible to me that someone would be that much of an imbecile after everything our forefathers went through. All of the books written on it. All the lectures we sat through in school. How could you possibly think it would be a good idea after all that?
It's kind of pathetic because it's a fucking video game forum but the end of GAF and the resultant forming of Resetera really showed me just how prevalent these tendencies are at all times in people, and in all of these people who I was ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN were too smart and would never fall for it.
When I watch Mods like Nepenthe just so shamelessly rewrite history and pull these "rules for thee but not for me" games, these double standards after double standards, right in front of your eyes, like she thinks your eyes and memory and even the logs don't work and you are blind deaf and dumb, it just makes me feel immense sadness that people are this fucking stupid.
All of these people who I thought were such smart people; all of them fell for shit this fucking stupid.
But it's fine because they got what they deserved. This retard nigger Nepenthe spent critical child bearing years of her fleeting life working for free, like a literal fucking slave just like her ancestors. All the dipshits I respected create a censored hellscape and either got banned, shamed, taken advantage of, silenced, or otherwise mentally ruined and discouraged, just like the fuckwad KGP/Nazis. History repeats itself.
I hated Cerium at the time, but I can't hate him now, he gave them exactly what they wanted like any true capitalist would. He most certainly earned that 4.5 million and I congratulate him wholeheartedly.
