It's less of a cancel culture and more of a cancel tendency.
Like there's no hierarchy or structure among those who want to take things down like a culture would have, it's like stepping on a cat and then the cat immediately trying to scratch you. When these individuals feel stepped on they react in a similar manner of animalistic retaliation. But with the added bullshit of them not taking actions into their own hand and instead running to big daddy corporation and getting them to fight in their name.
It's very gay and Victorian of them.

I don't think going after LGR will amount to much, I mean maybe they can get him for playing Leisure Suit Larry.

Ah yeah I love The Critical Drinker's stuff. Even when I disagree with his opinions on a given movie or TV show (capeshit is dumb no matter how competently <capeshit media #214> is executed) he's still hilarious, plus as a healthy(ish) human being I can handle it when someone has a different opinion than me. The fact that he's so unapologetic and "offensively" blunt about what's plaguing Hollywood even knowing it offends the usual suspects is part of what makes his stuff so entertaining.
Also, his reviews of Prometheus and Alien: Covenant are some of his best work. Long live Mutated Zombie Ginger Science Guy! (spoiler: he does not live long).
It's "guilt by association," simple as that. It makes it really easy for the drones to decide who to like and who to hate without expending the tiniest bit of independent or critical thought. The hate machine is practically self-guiding once it's primed with some basic seed rules (hate <list of opinions> as "wrongthink", hate <anyone with <wrongthink>> as "target", hate <anyone with <any connection to <target>>>). Reeee is a great example of this mechanism in action. It even self-generates new opinions to hate without any external intervention or management.
Calling these people cultists always feels like a lazy handwave, but it really does fit here. Fucking Scientology would kill for the chance to get its claws into these imbeciles ... if they had any assets to whisk away from them or had any value as effective foot soldiers or agitators (Scientology prefers hard-working industry/government infiltrators over mindless deviants and social shamers -- this lot need not apply). If they weren't entirely worthless and useless, they're perfectly primed for a cult like Scientology to scoop them right up. They're certainly stupid enough to fall for it.

LGR actually plays games sometimes and he reviews predominantly PC games anyways. My guess is that this is somehow suspicious of him that he's focused on [random 1997 piece of tech] and [low-budget PC game from the bargain bin] instead of [capeshit] and [flavor of the month consoomer product].

It doesn't surprise me at all they hate Yahtzee. He's a sardonic 90s liberal anti-sjw fedora type. Even his latest book is still making fun of hackneyed sjw behavior, which is funny but can be a little cringe at how on the nose and 2016 era the jokes are. Anyway I really recommend his latest book, it's good.
It seems to me like the more someone is liberal but not full on foaming at the mouth leftist, the more they fucking hate their guts with a passion, like with JK Rowling. They just ignore anyone right of center as if they don't even exist. I guess it's a "kill traitors first" kind of thing.
