A guy scammed some idiots out of $2000, in part because the jannies "verified" him as "legit" based off of literally nothing. People are defending the jannies and saying they don't even have a responsibility to provide information they have on the guy. Stolen shots from The Bire post.

He was selling the Switch 2+ Mario Kart World bundle for $400 USD, how does that alone not immediately set off a scam warning. Also Joined in November. No previous completed sales. Final red flag was that he didn't want to use paypal and had them send Amazon gift cards or direct deposits. At least 6 of them fell for this. These are the people calling you a dumb chud btw. lol.

It really does seem like she's making an Attack Helicopter joke.
Maybe ZS was trying to do some sort of performative ally thing that kinda backfired, but I'd prefer to think she was making the sort of joke that would have gotten her #cancelled in 2022. (IDK if we'll ever find out, but my dearest hope is that she gets pressed about it and goes with 'Lighten up, it's just a joke'.) (And if that's the case I bet Gina Carano would kick herself for not holding her tongue for a few more years.)

Having not read that thread, I don't know if this was a scam that involved Ebay, but I'm getting the impression that it was a couple of fraudulent sales arranged through the forum itself.
If any of the Resetera staff are reading this, and I'm correct, then in the future you should insist that anyone soliciting sales through Resetera direct users to an account on Ebay or another legitimate website.
And they still do it for free!
