He's authentic. He's not some sort of fake wannabe celebrity with a carefully managed personality. He's a neet living in his own filth which makes him pretty much representative of your average gamer.

Hes a generally authentic and funny reaction streamer. Viewers can suggest things for him to watch, and he generally interacts with chat and actually does what a react streamer should do, so he has a lot of fans. There aren't too many high profile right wing reaction streamer gamers either.

That's part of the appeal. I only agree with maybe half of what he says and I feel like he milks Trump for content too much now but the guy doesn't pretend to be something he isn't and though he's pivoted more to reaction stuff in recent years he was genuinely entertaining and knowledgeable about the MMOs he would play on stream.

EDIT: He's also probably the most "mainstream" internet personality that calls out/laughs at stupid bullshit like trans people in sports, immigration, Palestine, etc. and generally says what normies are thinking without crossing the line into right wing grifter territory like Tim Poole or Tucker Carlson.

Only people I know that do willingly watch him are people who want Hasan's skull on a pike. He is essentially Hasan Piker but without the "America Deserved 9/11" & "I support the Houthis 10 toes down". I loved the WoW Death videos because Asmongold gives important information and context -- Why did this person die? Was it the healer's fault? Was it the tank's fault? Was there a particular mistake that wiped the group? He pretty much knows Classic WoW backwards and forwards.

I genuinely have no idea why people want to watch him get into a one-way argument with a ShoeOnHead video though. Whether you agree with him or not, it's just tedious to have someone react to a video essay, stopping and starting over and over, giving responses to every third sentence.
