Me too. But if there's one thing women are naturally more inclined to do than men, it's pointing out, talking about, and ridiculing others. After all, men solve conflicts physically or directly. Women are more likely to do it socially or tangentially.

Also, there's a huge correlation between autism spectrum disorder and gender dysphoria, with something like 1/3 of transgender people being diagnosed as being on the spectrum. The IT and software engineering industry has the highest percentage of transgender people in their workforce, they're overrepresented several times. Anecdotally, both of transgender people I've met IRL were coders

So it's not much of a surprise that they're in the same places autists are

It's kind of like the gaming side's miniature equivalent to November 9. Worldviews shattered. Some of them sound like they just found out their childhood dog is going to be put down. Others are in complete denial. Can you imagine a similar reaction on any other gaming website? I don't think The Mary Sue would be this shell-shocked. They'd just use it as an opportunity to claim Link should be a woman.

There's also some fun comments about how some of the other data proves Nintendo isn't for children. It's for manchildren.

A community of mostly men struggles with the idea other gamers are mostly men. Is NeoGAF even 10% women (trannies don't count)?

I have seen it said that Dead or Alive has a larger than normal female fanbase for a fighting game. Not sure how true that is, but it would make their white knight crusades more hilarious if they're against the very games girls play in favor of more "female-friendly" games as defined by them.

The real question is how the mods even know if a user is part of some minority group. In most instances on a forum, one's race/gender/sexuality doesn't really have anything to do with the content at hand, especially on a forum dedicated to video games.

Of course, the same could be said for all the people on Neogaf who like to bring up how they play video games with their wives as if that's somehow important to topics.

Something occurred to me. There's a meme/forum game in the off-topic forum on GAF, where a news story is posted and the title will contain 'G/A/F'. The idea is you read the title, always involving some typical Florida Man shenanigans, and guess if it happened in Germany, Australia, or Florida, before opening the thread. It's a fun game, really, and you can even get good at it. It's also, by the standards of today's GAF, incredibly racist. Could be fun to point that out the next time one of those threads pops up.

Though, on reflection, the predominantly white population of those regions may be all they need to quell the cognitive dissonance of betting on the nationality of someone based on their exact flavor of stupid, while maintaining an 'anti-racist' ideology.

It's been an ongoing joke for a while that if you just mention being black every couple of posts, you get to shitpost on GAF without restraint. That's a slight exaggeration, but there are general threads dedicated to black and LGBT users. If you're a vocal regular, you make your life situation known to the mods
