It's because gaming has turned from just another hobby into a "subculture" for spergs and social misfits, who for obvious reasons likely identify more with SJW politics on average, and has more to do with fetishization and masturbatory fantasies around fictional video game characters than it even does actually playing video games with any measure of skill, like esports players do.

Kind of like the difference between someone who occasionally listens to ICP, versus someone who identifies as a "Juggalo".

Yeah, it really has. I love playing games and talking about them, but there's more to my hobbies than that. And the last thing I want in my games are left or right wing politics. I don't play games to engage in politics, there's enough of that shit in my daily life and sometimes I just want a break from it. People want escapism, maybe they just want to pretend to be a superhero for a few hours and fuck some shit up, not getting lectured on multiculturalism, intersectionality or how violence is bad.

Also for me, gaming is a social and even family activity. My siblings and cousins all play, and we play together even though we are separated by thousands of miles in some cases. If it weren't for gaming, I wouldn't interact with them as much, since we'd all have different hobbies and our lives wouldn't connect in that way. And of course we shit talk each other, get salty and all that other 'toxic gamer shit'. Because its fun. One of my cousins is gay and she makes Mike Pence jokes and worse all the time, SocJus people would have 10 heart attacks and cry in their pillows if they heard what she said on a daily basis.

They want to turn gaming into this 'social movement' where EVERY game has to be political in some fashion. And it has to be accessible to every single person on the planet, no matter what the game is. Whether it be DotA or Gone Home. It hasn't taken hold because people who play games typically don't put up with this shit. And people just don't buy what they are selling. Literally. Any SocJus game outside of Gone Home has flopped hard.

Not backseat modding, to be honest it looked like race baiting. You didn't provide a lot of your own thoughts or ideas on the video beyond a blip so the original post so it didn't seem like a real discussion. But whatever.

I try to keep my Islamic Content intake low, so I don't really know how many gaf members are actually Muslims. What I have noticed is that it's the least derided religion on there. It's not uncommon to see a thread about Easter have replies from enlightened atheists making quips about how they don't celebrate a day nothing happened. You don't see that in Eid or Ramadan threads. If someone criticizes Islam too much, they'll get swarmed by people calling them a Nazi/Trump voter/Republican/Islamaphobe/white/racist. Given Neogaf's political leanings are pretty obvious, that's not a surprise. Islam is the religion of peace and feminism.

That specific topic creator is one of the forum's most well known Muslim defenders. He once said ISIS has just 10 trained fighters.

What's interesting is that the Democrat Leadership Council of the late '80s/early '90s tried to remedy this, and the group was at least in part responsible for rise of Clinton/Gore. (Clinton actually led the group for a bit.) But then Clinton and Gore seemed to drift much further leftward, eight years of Obama, and then Hillary.
