"Machado" was the guys name, Just looked at his profile, he hasn't posted since late November, buy was logged on a few minutes ago. I am curious if he will chime in or not.

I remember Machado applied for PR via Quebec back when NeoGAF was still the favored site, spent months hemming and hawing over the application not getting a response, must have been 2015-16? Did he end up in the US? Legally or illegally?

I like that they ban you for saying Trump good, but will also temp ban you for going too far in saying Trump bad. Might as well just go the TVTropes forums route and ban all discussion of anything US politics related at that point. Communism works on the family unit. That is basically how every normal family works.

Am I understanding this right? People want films to be only in theaters for longer? What's the appeal in spending more money to see a movie (only at times the theater is showing it, mind you,) being suckered into buying overpriced junk food, and having to sit in a filthy theater surrounded by guffawing randos? Wouldn't this, I dunno, be the kind of thing they should cheer for? "Democratizing movie-going," or something? Legitimately wondering if I'm misunderstanding since this makes very little sense to me

I guess the argument is that it'll push WB to make more "disposable" films in-line with streaming content, as opposed to cinema, but isn't that what pretty much all films are, now? Even if that was true, I could see calling it "artless" or some shit, but "deeply evil" is such a laughable statement.

There are some RetardEra users that go to see a movie several times in the theater. Twice isn’t that unheard of but I’m talking like 5-6 times. I imagine those losers are the ones out in full force in that thread. People who have actual shit to do aren’t going that often, especially how expensive the experience is nowadays but RetardEra users are that perfect consoomer Venn diagram of “has no life” and “has disposable income.”

People are savages now and you can barely pay attention to the movie with all the fucking morons on cell phones glowing up the place. I've more or less given up. You used to be able to avoid this by going to white people theaters.

You might as well just go to black people theaters and join in on the hooting and hollering yourself.

With large format (65"+) televisions (and really nice projectors if you really wanna go huge) and surround rigs being as cheap as they are, it's really hard to justify paying for 'the theater experience' when it's accompanied by having to share that space with potentially hundreds of people that wil have a significantly nonzero probability of fucking up your enjoyment of a movie.

This is even before we get to whether current movies are worth watching in the first place.

I'm hoping Project: Hail Mary in March will be worth the theater experience. No idea who's doing the soundtrack but if any of the movie is close to The Martian in faithfulness and experience then I'll be glad.
