NeoGAF & ResetERA - The Hilarious N̶e̶v̶e̶r̶e̶n̶d̶i̶n̶g̶ Splintering "Gaming" Forum Circus

I'm glad to see Sorret finding his balls again - It was heartbreaking when his game was looking amazing but the shame-gang tried to rain on his parade and he ended up tail between his legs for the rest of E3.

Other devs also came under the harrassment mob over the years over hearsay. Not sure where Derek Smith is but I'm sure he's doing a happy dance somewhere

Giant Bomb forum is taking in refugees. They'll probably fit right in to be honest. (https://www.giantbomb.com/forums/off-topic-31/i-think-neogaf-is-burning-down-1815283/?page=1)

Giantbomb's been going downhill a while, so this likely won't end as well as they think it will.

Unsure whether to out my somehow unbanned pre-2k10 account or stay under the water and vie for an adminship

Quietly observe, and report in as the madness unfolds.

We always need more boots on the ground, and any additional nuggets of Autism you bring in are that much more worth it.

Weening doesn't help anything and will get you mocked, so do the cool thing and bring in more content.

Who the fuck is Tim Soret?

Game dev with arguably one of the best-looking game concepts at the last E3, The Last Night.

He essentially was making a game whose entire premise is based on utter stagnation brought about through a universal income system, and the protagonist seeks to upend it so creativity can flourish once again, though it'll mean fucking with the current order of things. It drew a lot of attention, mostly because it was a very different take on cyberpunk. One can compare the setting's premise to the likes of the Mouse Utopia experiment.

Anyway, between the idea of the game's plot basically going directly against the likes of Universal Income (which many regressive leftists view as a fucking panacea these days) and the fact that basically all eyes were on this game due to how good it looked, the usual suspects began to REEEEEE in the middle distance. When it was discovered that Soret said that GG was a good thing for the industry though about 3 years ago, GAF went full witch hunt to back up Blowey Zoe and harassed the ever-loving fuck out of Tim Soret. As is the tradition, almost none of it was based on fact; he made one tweet three years ago and ergo had to be burned at the metaphorical stake.

The dude suffered undue harassment by these insufferable faggots for almost a month solely because Zoe Quinn initially took offense out of jealousy and GAF wanted to ruin his career because he dared voice support for GG at one point. GAF threw everything at the guy and the fact that it's burning right now means he's fucking earned this minor victory.

I'm waiting to see what JonTron says. He was their main target ever since YookaLaylee. GAFaggots were still trying to bully and boycott Jon and A Hat In Time as recently as, what, like a fucking week ago? And now they're gone. Them and their little boycott cryfests against him and Huniepop dev washed away, like salty tears in the rain.

I wonder when people are gonna go after the mods. Or if it just dies here with neogaf. Nothing says guilty like fucking off entirely from a website they were on 24/7 enforcing bullshit rules and circle jerking because mastah got caught lol.

They're next. I'd put money on it. Them scattering as hard as they did, with the history of other mods on that site like Amir0x, means they've gotta be guilty of the same shit if not worse.

Oh man, Google translate doesn’t really do justice to just how hard he is going right now. This must be a cathartic moment for him.

Also, if you’re wondering what the Mélenchon/macroniste thing is about: they’re talking about two candidates of the recent presidential election in France. Macron, a mostly center rightish candidate who won the election mostly because of who he was against after being shilled for by the media for months. He’s putting in place controversial labour laws, and has been courting the right wing, so he’s the current leftist boogeyman. And Mélenchon, who placed 4th, a crypto-commie eurosceptic candidate who now has the support of a good chunk of the far left (and even of the left in general, after the total rout of the traditional left party).

That pasta originates from a post on Neogaf back in 2008 I believe.
Curiously the specific post was never archived, but it was from Neogaf's very early history. It became a meme because of how dumb it was and people would frequently make edits of it for new historically exclusive games going multiplat. It was immortalized due to this video

Its also the only Neogaf meme I'm aware of.
Cherry on top: it was an Amirox post (made in response to a Final Fantasy game going multiplatform instead of remaining PlayStation exclusive). I remember that well. Nobody could figure out if he was kidding or serious. Someone even did a dramatic reading YTMND on it.
I hope /v/NeoFAG continues based off that forum if it ever materializes.
Oh, it will.

Nothing makes me happier than knowing this is hurting RPGCrazied, a mentally ill, middle-aged illegal alien snowflake who alternates between posting vitriol towards the taxpayers and country paying his parasite bills and screeching that Drumph is going to literally murder him by forcing him back into the country he left but loves so much.

Deported from his safe space with everyone else, probably soon to be deported IRL with his family. Couldn't make this shit up if you tried :story:

This is the legacy of the site and every person who posted on it.

I wonder how many neogaf users were ignorant of how hated they were outside their little hugbox and are now being bombed with this type of information!

I would say I feel bad for them having to endure this rude awakening, but then again, they are neogaf users

NeoGAF's destruction is a perfect microcosm of why their side lost the Autism Holy War.

And no, I'm not going to white knight the side that won, it was autistic as fuck no matter who you sided with, but consider the sides in question.

One side had people who had been shit up since time began who just wanted to enjoy their hobbies in peace, and while they had their weirdos, fuckups, deviants, and even a few outright criminals, they had the good sense to let them be thrown to the wolves if they didn't do it themselves and for the most part, those parties aside, the same communites that formed when they started is still there with many of the same members, their fringes left on the fringe while the main community is still going strong, in many fora where they gather.

And then you have NeoGAF, who also has weirdos, fuckups, deviants, and, in comparison to the other side, a lot higher ratio of outright criminals so far, but they shielded their rogues and lauded them so long as they agreed with the hivemind, until eventually shedding the mass majority who realized this was a bad idea until all that was left was a bitter, tortured shell of a community that no longer had human bodies to shield their worst elements behind, and now they are self destructing because of this.

Both sides were and still are autistic as hell, but on one side the multitude shed its criminal fringe while keeping the majority that realized shielding them was a bad idea, and the other chose to keep it's criminal fringe while shedding the majority who realized the foolishness in doing so, and now that has come back to haunt them as they've imploded from doing so.

Not sure if it's been shared, but I didn't expect Rolling Stone to write up an article about this. Slow news day?
