NeoGAF & ResetERA - The Hilarious N̶e̶v̶e̶r̶e̶n̶d̶i̶n̶g̶ Splintering "Gaming" Forum Circus

I disagree. Its the internet, shit will linger on and might even recover. It is, after all, still the biggest gaming focused forum around and I am willing to bet that most of the members were always either neutral to or secretly hated the SJW shit. Mods are easily replaceable, admins perhaps less so but it shouldn't take long to filter down to a few competent ones.

At this point, the fracturing has already happened. Sites like NeoGAF could only operate within the most extreme of echo chambers. With their leaders gone, they're broken. They may unite on a new site, or under a new banner, but the damage is done.

The hugbox is breached, and by their own hand.

It literally couldn't have.

They did it to themselves.
There's a special itch that scratched when when you watch the most SJW and "tolerant" groups on the internet have a public melt down, especially when it's brought on by their own histrionics.

They've imploded over absolutely nothing other than their own perceived outrage.

Plus didn't they try to make a new site called Geonaf, but then that quickly fell to shit and shut down earlier today?

The whole accusation seems like such a minor thing for an internet forum with such a huge legacy behind it to explode over but Tyler really did make his bed with the screeching neo-liberals and now he has to lie with them. When your userbase is that sensitive and fragile you quite literally have to tiptoe on glass in order to avoid upsetting them.

To me, it feels like this was just the match to the powderkeg that was waiting for any excuse to go off. The userbase was done with the website and NeoGAF had clearly outlived its own usefulness. If it wasn't this it would have been something else soon thereafter.

Anyone ever heard of the Dutch Tulip Mania?

Way back when the Dutch were the big dogs of world trade, tulips were a fad that really took off and everyone bought into it because of a bunch of mass group think that said it was popular to buy tons of the damn things, so tulip bulbs became a really hot commodity all because everyone bought into a fad and refused to let the subject drop.

The bubble finally burst when the Dutch government finally took a look at the bloated, distended trade that had erupted over a bunch of flowers and basically said "why is everyone getting all worked up and blowing money over a fad?"

The market imploded on tulips right then and there when reality hit and no one really had a good rebuttal for that, and it never recovered.

NeoGAF is that, only it died in a far more pathetic and hilarious manner, and that will never stop making me giggle.

It sounds like a curious but meaningless fad unless you point out that tulips were selling for as much as 14 years of a highly-skilled tradesman's wages. Fuckin tulips.

Showerthought:
There are women all over the country teaching men not to rape for a career. But all male feminist allies turn out to be rapists

A good way of not being "raped" by a man is not to be stark naked and dripping wet in a shower in his motel room.

Just speaking as a man. I've managed not to rape anyone in my life but for some reason, I would possibly take a stark naked dripping wet woman in a shower as possibly being receptive to advances. I mean, call me a weirdo here.

Plus didn't they try to make a new site called Geonaf, but then that quickly fell to shit and shut down earlier today?

One of my theories is that when I queried the GeoNAF domain earlier today, it said they were using HostGator for hosting.

HostGator is so hilariously oversold on their servers, that I imagine all that traffic set off a bunch of red flags to their management and kicked them off immediately.

I may as well put it out there now, Jason has some weird history involving the secret LUE forum on GameFAQs: https://www.dropbox.com/s/i9z8v9lva771n1b/JasonSchreierNepal.pdf?dl=0

I might be able to offer a small bit of insight on this one. There's a GameFAQs board called LUE that was long ago rendered private by the GameFAQs admin. Prism went there at one point, I think, but that's not important now. LUE itself is now just a small board of old timers where nothing much interesting happens. However, years ago there was a splinter site made called LUElinks that was essentially a link index of things that were against the GameFAQs TOS. The links were shut down when Megaupload died and were never brought back, but a forum remained, which is now an invite only forum called End of the Internet. ETI itself is a lolcow farm which has been gradually taken over by troons, but nevermind that.

Prism is a name I used to see come up a lot. He definitely has a history on the site but I never kept up on that particular drama, and I've only ever been an occasional visitor there. I do, however, still have an active account. A cursory search shows that Schreier is either no longer active on the site, or changed his username again. I can't say which for sure. The search function on the site isn't the best. The forum currently has a thread on the current NeoGAF drama that's a little under 500 posts. I haven't read it yet, but if anybody is curious I can see what they're saying about Schreier. I have no doubt that he's at least come up. Likewise I don't know much about Schreier's history on the site, but I'll answer any questions about the site itself as best I can if it will help our brave Kiwi agents.

EDIT: To clarify, Schreier was primarily active on the splinter site LUElinks, not the original LUE.

EDIT 2: I was wrong, Schreier does still have an active account. I'm not sure if he actually posts or just lurks though. Stay tuned.

This is where Besada and some of the other really shitty mods are heading.

Yeah, the reason people were buying tulips was because everyone else was buying them, and they all thought they'd get in on the ground floor and be the smart asshole who got away. As it turns out, everyone was the smart asshole, and the whole thing was kind've a leaderless pyramid scam. I think the virtue signalling in places like NeoGAF is the same way, like Geth said. Everyone wants to be the smart asshole whose progressive word is law, but everyone ends up the Tyler Malka on the hook for millions in worthless virtue-signal-tulips.

The best way of not being raped is to simply stop redefining "rape" to mean "that time a man hit on me and i felt slightly uncomfortable". And also avoid black people and refugees.

Personally, I avoid rapists. Don't ever expect me to get naked in a motel room shower with you.

She honest to god does not say that he raped her - or even attempted to rape her - in the FB post which started this. The characterisation of the incident as "sexual assault" has come from GAF itself and taken on a life of its own. GAF has imploded because it believed its own bullshit.

Tyler very probably is a scumbag of epic proportions, but what's delicious is that he's being hung, drawn and quartered for something his accuser never said he did.

The way she spoke about it, she didn't call it rape, but certainly implied it. Nor has she come forward with a follow up correcting the issue (that i'm aware of).

Regardless if it was "rape", "sexual assault", "an awkward attempt at flirting" or whatever, it's still poetic justice to see NeoGAF get hoisted by its own "Listen and Believe" petard.

She absolutely did not. She said that awkward, unwanted advances were made on her, and implied it was maybe sexual harassment, in that a person in the same industry treated her poorly when he didn't get his end wet, but that's about all. Anyone calling it 'sexual assault' or 'rape' is doing so because they're full-blown retarded and think that making a woman briefly uncomfortable is an unforgivable crime that merits social execution.

Luckily for us, though, Tyler cultivated a community of such people and ostracized and banned everyone who might have otherwise come to his defense.

Some of us are just calling it rape because we find it amusing to do that.
