UBI works because it provides the bare minimum and people won't be satisfied with the bare minimum. It provides leverage to employees in labor negotiations, so you can just say "fuck it, I'm out" and won't have your children sleeping in the car because you refused to wax Jonathan Yaniv's balls. This drives up wages, including those of the middle class, and improves mental health. UBI also keeps people fed while they're going through vocational training and is a better way of supporting the arts than targeted government grants to entrenched grifters.

You still didn't answer who's paying for it.

Do you have any unbiased studies that shows it works? It comes off to me as “sounds good on paper” but in practice is terrible. I see it raising the cost of living and goods.

However, my point is in order to even fund UBI you need people to work still. Society can’t just all quit and expect the wealthy and corporations to foot the bill which is what that idiot retardera poster was claiming.

We're gonna make more puppets, and make them pay for it!

More than half the threads on this site are about people who get the bare minimum and refuse to work for more.

And more than half of those people are people you wouldn't trust to flip a burger. Chris-Chan is at the higher end of those and could probably be trusted to sort glass if he had a gun to his head.

very optimistic assumption tbh
from my experience plenty of people are perfectly fine with a lowly paycheck to paycheck existence in some apartment as long as they have food, water, heating, electricity, internet access, and a smartphone. and you just KNOW that UBI, just like the welfare programs that currently exist, will provide all of that plus a generous surplus.
They wouldn't include the smart phone, but otherwise I agree.

There's also the problem of what the minimum is. Someone living in a working class town with a low cost of living can manage fine, but that same amount of money in central London wouldn't even be able to pay the rent. There are also people with disabilities, illness, and other special needs that can cost various amounts of money to manage. Then there's maintenance. If there's a bad storm, how is someone on UBI going to get the roof repaired if they only have enough for a days bread and water?

All that, and it would also be an insane boost to the economy. Suddenly millions of impoverished people would have more money, which will be spent and not saved (because the poor spend, they can't save).

The glaring question is: where will the money come from? We're already running a deficit. It's going to mean more taxes, or more realistically, more taxes as well as a reduction in spending elsewhere. Which the US could suffer. Our GDP in 2017 was $19,390.60 billion. GNI was north of $60k.

ah, well, i'm sure we'll figure that out down the road
Yes lets make Trump the official president of Twitter. Let's also give him our guns while we're at it. Might as well make him a dictator too, can't have harassment so he needs unlimited power.

saved money is not removed from the economy (unless you literally hoard stacks of dollar bills or solid gold bars under your bed forever, which nobody does except loony preppers)
in reality, savings re-enter the economy in the form of capital (if invested into companies) or credit (if given to banks), until they are later withdrawn and converted into spending again (usually for large purchases like a house)

this whole "take away peoples savings so poorfags can consume more" idea is massive exceptionalism, usually perpetuated by marxists who hate private property by default

In any event poor people can't save. Like you.

"Subject [Twitter] to gov't oversight."

Oh lawd, they know not what they ask for. They would hate the results of doing that -- the government is beholden to that pesky First Amendment and under its auspices Twitter would suddenly become much less friendly to the snowflake brigade since people wouldn't get banned anymore for hurting feelings or tweeting while conservative.

Ahh yes because journalism is alive and well in China, Russia, Venezuela, the Middle East etc.

It’s always a good idea for state run media outlets, what possibly could go wrong?!?

(These people are fucking idiots, I hope none of them vote.)

Think I may have found a new low

One of those drawings is totally worth a $60 game

Ugh this one is just so sad. I would feel pretty bad for this one if motherfucker wasn't stingy as fuck. One character? For 60 bucks?! My nigger that's one pricey drawing. Make it one of those combos where you buy 3 and you get 4, or better yet offer to draw a fursona or one of those girly avatars troons like use. Dude has zero entrepreneur spirit.
