Is this for real? are those people afraid of imageboards?

That's a shop right? I mean... it sure seems like a shop... but you really never can tell...
On closer inspection the article text looks faked by the hyperbolic tone, but you can bet a real article is on its way tomorrow. Jason Schreier and Nathan Grayson don't work that fast.

This is the only related story, from a week ago

which explains (to me anyways) why all the /v/ posters were asking about properties I didn't know were connected and the THQ rep's response that they would have tot talk to Koch about some of the possibilities regarding new games or sequels.

Twitter capped some of the removed posts:

Was it a rogue employee acting on his own or a company decision? The official account liked some of the posts defending the AMA, so I have doubts.

Also, posting that they are sorry was their biggest mistake, the bluecheck journos are going to have more than a field day with this crap. Resetera people are not even a problem for 8channers because they can't even post, so they don't fear an invasion can happen like 4chan.

I think it is a bit of both. I bet an employ asked to do an AmA but never specifically stated where. That or it was a publicity stunt and now they can just say they fired said employ because no one knows who they actually are. Great move on their part tbh.

Part of me is hoping the 8chan AMA and the accompanying apology were a deliberate testing of the waters on the part of THQ Nordic. I know that's horribly optimistic, but really, some company is going to figure out sooner or later that there are actual customers out there, and that their overlap with the shrieking Twitter harpies is pretty damn tiny. What better way to figure that out than by going directly into the lion's den, apologizing for it, and seeing how both sides react? You'd think that eventually someone in a marketing department would look at something like this:

...and maybe go "huh, were we possibly misinformed about how evil those people are?"

There's also the fact that they did just acquire Warhorse, winners of the prestigious "Most Problematic Developers" award and also the coveted "Most Blacklisted Studio" award. Is someone at THQ secretly a terrible, terrible shitlord? One can only hope.

God dammit, they caved. Bunch of wimps. Just once it'd be nice to see somebody sack up and tell these whiny brats to shut up and sit down.

THQ Nordic GmbH, best known as the publisher of the Darksiders series, has apologized for hosting an Ask Me Anything on a site that has been blacklisted by Google for "suspected child abuse content."

For those who don't know, the "8chan hosts child pr0n!" claim was debunked during gamergate when a "journalist" named Dan Olsen posted child pornography on 8chan himself so he could report them for hosting CP. 8chan's owner disabled Google's crawler from indexing the site. Google didn't block them. Of course, it's IGN, so we can't expect them to actually bother doing any research.
