They're expecting people to pay 20 dollars more for a game with less content than the previous versions that's also somehow less optimized and doesnt look like an improvement compared to the previous games. (3ds games were always $40, switch games are $60)
"Character so crucial to the film that it would require massive rewrites if they were removed."
I thought the reason most diversity characters are in unimportant b-plots is so they can be mostly edited out of the movie for international versions. Just look at the infamous Force Awakens poster.

Not all Pokemon are in game
Pokemon that are in game turned out to be a mix of Let's Go and 3DS Models from previous games(you even have evolutionary trees where they have inconsistent models and some are from 3ds while others are from LG)
Animations have been removed
Movesets have been removed
Paid DLC found to be in game (it sounds like they're going to do a Starcraft 2 and release the whole game in full priced sections)
Have to pay extra for wifi battles
Have to pay extra for wifi trading
GTS has been killed in favor friendcode type bullshit and this also requires paid online
Less content than any previous pokemon game released thus far, only takes around 20 hours and has no end game
Shinies don't appear in the wild
Game looks and runs like ass(15 fps in many sections and will chug even lower in some places) and for a BIRRION DORRAH franchise it's really no excuse when series like Dragon Quest and other RPG series actually look like effort went into them.
This game is the reason why people make fun of the Nintendo Seal of Quality, because holy shit zero effort went into it and they had YEARS to prepare.
Finn is impersonating his father in that Chinese Poster.

Slight correction and last post about this as to not go too much off topic but you can find shiny pokémon in the wild. The shiny/not shiny thing is pokémon that appear in the overworld / Wild Area and can be battled will not appear shiny in those places, but will appear as shiny in the battle itself.
Isamu Fukui's white supremacist forum knows black people are second class citizens, so if their lords and masters at Disney remove the niggers to appease the chinks, they're fine with it.

I agree, but never EVER underestimate how desperate Nintenfags can be. Pokemon SS will be a commercial success without a single doubt because it has a "Pokemon mainline title" on it, even if it's a big turd.
I can't even fathom how Pokemon is still a thing nowadays. Gamefreak should have died a long time ago. Tell you how rewarding aiming for dumb children or inarticulate man-child can be.
Is this just about Nintendo online or is there something else going on here? I know it sounds like a dumb question, but I honestly wouldn't put it beside them.

Same reason stuff like Sonic or Thomas the Tank Engine appeals to people on the spectrum, probably. Characters that express simple emotions in a hyper-exaggerated style are easy for them to understand and connect with.
A shitton of Pokémon are completely cut from the game. Not that they aren't available and you can't obtain them except by trading like on other games, they aren't coded in the game at all. GameFreak has announced they plan on doing this to every game going forward.
The excuse used for that was to make better animations, but the animations for the older pokémons that are appearing again are reused, the animations for the new ones aren't exactly impressive and the animations for some trainers are reused from Sun and Moon as well (very noticeable with Hop and Hau).
Mega Pokémon are gone. The new gimmick is "Dynamaxing" and "Gigantamaxing", i.e. making your pokémon big / big with a special form depending if it was chosen to have one.
Some moves, including Hidden Power, a move used by a lot of pokémon competitively, are also gone. They are coded in the game but the game does not allow you to use them.
It doesn't look good for a Switch game. A tree from the game's "Wild Area" was infamously compared with N64 graphics and somehow looks worse than the trees from Wii Sports.
EXP Share is turned on by default and cannot be turned off. This makes your pokémon overleveled for a lot of things and the game apparently is quite easy even if you could turn it off.
There's a limit on the max level of the pokémon you can catch depending on how many badges you have.
People are really fucking pissed at Charizard and Gen 1 pandering in general.
Long story short:
Less content than the handheld games despite being on a more powerful console.
Being more expensive than past games despite that.
Unimpressive overall graphics, textures and animations.
Cut content people wanted (many Pokémon, Mega Forms, Moves...).
Focus on content nobody asked for (Currydex, Pokémon Camp) making people feel such effort could have gone to other things they consider more important.
The games were promised as "games for older pokémon fans" after Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee and that promise did not age well.

I only grabbed this first post because well, the thread's already eighteen pages long. Really there's tons of stuff on every single page.
There seems to be a reason why Nintendo never bothered putting their mainline Pokémon games on consoles until now. I’m guessing they can’t be assed to generate that large of a game with all the features and assets to develop. However, Breath of the Wild and Xenoblade are massive games so I don’t really get it.
BOTW and Xenoblade are done internally in Nintendo. Gamefreak, a separate company, does Pokémon. Nintendo owns the rights to the franchise but has an agreement with Gamefreak for producing them. Gamefreak has been technically incompetent since diamond and pearl, but since they always sell a shit ton they keep getting the job. They’ve never done HD development before and it shows.

Nintendo doesn't develop the mainline Pokémon games directly, that's on GameFreak. GameFreak also said that had Nintendo launched the Switch and a handheld console at the same time, they would have developed Pokémon Sword and Shield for the handheld instead. So you can rest assured they didn't want to make it for the Switch but had no other option.
However, that doesn't excuse a lot of corners they cut on the games because even if Sword/Shield was for the 3DS and nothing else changed, it would still have many jarring problems and it seems like they just shat it out with no care for the final product. It doesn't help that they seem to be inept at actually coding their games and everything. But hey, GameFreak focused more on developing Town instead of Pokémon Sword and Shield and that game was really well received and showed everyone they aren't only surviving because of the Pokémon franchise.
