They were mad because he wasn't going to toe the party line in changing problematic elements of games. They're madder because they scared off the guy who was doing it for free out of the hobby, so they're now downplaying their role and begging for him to come back (once he "grows and learns" of course). None of them are going to learn Japanese and 65816 asm (or whatever their favorite console used) to fill the void. They really want him back, it's like when a kid shouts out they're sorry in a desperate attempt to get what they want once they realize they've screwed up and burnt bridges.

To be fair, Nintendo is making billions each year and refuse to translate Mother 3 for a proper re-release. He's doing the translation for free because Nintendo wasn't going to.

It's a shame because while I don't like Nintendo that much, Mother 3 is one of the best games they ever released.

This whole talk reminds me of the OFF 3.0 translation.
The problem with that translation is that while there was a lot of shoddy translation in the 2.0 one everyone played (Including an endgame reveal that was mistranslated and it basically changed the entire plot.), the new version quite clearly tones down Dedan's dialogue with the translator talking about how unnacceptable his dialogue was. (For those unaware, Dedan is an abusive factory owner who governs Zone 1. He frequently bellitles the citizens and says a lot of naughty no-no words)
Not only that, but the translator also implemented a third gender option cementing my view that Dedan was censored instead of being translated more accurately.

I've always found that a bit funny about Era. You'd think that, given the prevalence of Jews in SJW groups and the pretty high position that the ADL and SPLC have in Left-wing circles, that a forum like this would be more sensitive to claims of antisemitism.
