It seems like you are referring to mainstream media, and this post is discussing "social media"? I would rebut it by saying that although these events don't exemplify the phenomena (either for, or against) I think GamerGate and maybe Epstein both show the effect that I'm talking about.I'm not sure I believe that. For something minor, sure, but when it comes to serious topics it's easily proven false by anything from GamerGate to Epstein.
Even though there are invested groups with the ability to control the narrative in the mainstream media, the point of view in the online spaces that talk about this stuff is that GG was mostly about shitty games media, not harassing chicks and the only reason it even got any steam was because of this effect. I think you would have to break GG down into a series of way smaller chunks to analyze it using this lens in any meaningful way. I mean CON was dedicated to using this effect to benefit the Anti-GG fags as evidenced by their chat logs.
As far as Epstein, I didn't pay close attention to what was going on with it so I can only surmise that what you're saying is the narrative that we are supposed to believe is that he killed himself, but you can see that in online spaces nobody buys that? I don't know if this situation has anything to say in regards to what my earlier post was about but if you clarify where you are coming from I might be able to give you a reply. It might be kind of OT, so instead of us derailing the thread with Epstein talk, if you want you can check me in PM's (GG is at least tangentially related to RetardEra)
