I'm trying to roll in a the muck a lot less. Can be hard to do when their smears are so blatant and full of shit, like it urges me on to clear my name and point out the lies, but I am trying to focus on it less. It's why I took a polite route when asking the 20 or so journalists who called me out if they could disprove my article and name just a single openly right leaning writer at a mainstream gaming centric website, and instead of answering they just smear my name, lie, and find roundabout ways to not answer. They literally cannot answer my question, so those are the wins I'd rather collect.
Social media makes it easy for us all to become assholes, but in recent months I've tried to rely less on name calling and more on wit and well phrased questions to prove my points or highlight hypocrisies or whatever else. Sometimes I slip and focus too much on the negative, but I am trying.
My career is doing well, and they can't argue against my articles, that's what I need to focus my attention on.

Man I wish i was a fat white man with a beard and this shit REALLY happened, I'd take a picture, literally smear some lipstick across my mouth and be the "stunning and brave" woman that I am. Then I'd go on every single female topic and start my comment with, "As a woman-"
(then again that's how REE works currently but it'd be a laugh to see the "women" behind the comments)

Yeah, I can understand it's hard to not answers, but seriously, you should try your best to ignore them. It's based internet life pro tips. You don't need to clear your name, you should focus on your work, that's the only think valuable people will judge on. As long as your work is valuable, people will give you a pass for almost everything.
I have a youtube channel with 50k followers or so. I was caught in a random shitstorm, I ignored it and the ads/patreon side money kept flowing. Business went on, most people didn't care.
You made a joke about the virus and names you had in mind. Own it up, never apologies. Never bow down to social medias dwellers, never explain yourself, let them be outraged. It's hard but the pay off is always worth it : you learn to get past bullshit.

Unfortunately what some of them don't realise is that they've been sucked into what is essentially a religious cult where perceived negatives are amplified to the max and any dissent from the pre-approved lines of thinking will lead to a suspension or ban, making weak-minded and genuinely vulnerable or mentally ill people sometimes question if they are really "good" people or not, hence making their state of mind even worse.
I've never seen another site quite like it, and it's amazing to me the number of people that post there who see nothing wrong with it. It's fucking insane.
