I agree, but it’s the numbers they quote:
According to the Williams Institute, in 2016, approximately 0.6 percent of adults in the United States identified as transgender. This translates to just over 1.3 million adults.

So, damned if they do damned if they don’t - either less than .6% of the population is actually trans, or 22 murders is a meaningless call to arms.

It can't possibly be because any longer than that puts the Americas and West in general as nothing more than a blip in the timeline of humans owning slaves. In a 500 years or less timeline there's more emphasis on the European and American ownership of slaves.
