That Kyuuji was BDS and KetKat best friend on Resetera. They've both been banned unfairly and Kyuuji still didn't request a self-ban, he's still participating actively, bringing money and behaving like nothing happened. He's the first to speak about his "activism" day and night, like he's some tough no-bs motherfucker, but when it comes to actually support his friends who's been unfairly banned (especially KetKat)... he shut his mouth, bow to the staff and follow the cult because "muh Resetera account/my progressive platform".

That's clearly not the kind of person you want at your side when shit go south.

Every 41% from now until the end of time is on JK’s hands.

This is in response to someone 14 minutes earlier mildly disagreeing that Rowling is Hitler, Stalin, and Pol Pot all rolled into one package. We need insta-bans or else this place is unsafe for trans folx!

The funny thing is, in my opinion the troons are being completely rational with their hysterical overreaction to anything JK Rowling does. She's a huge threat to them, and their domination of the cultural narrative, certainly in the UK.

Over the last few years, troons somehow managed to manoeuvre into a position where it is unacceptable to say that you don't like trannies, that you think there are two genders, that they should stay away from kids, that a man can't become a woman. All that stuff. If you said it in your work place you would be paying a visit to HR or fired. Say it on TV or social media, get piled on and/or cancelled. Perhaps the police will show up at your door. Troons had it made.

What did it take? Probably the most powerful and beloved British woman behind the goddamn Queen, someone who can't be bought, intimidated or cancelled (because she's so fuckin rich) to just honestly give her opinions on this stuff.

Now, all you have to do is say "I agree with JK Rowling". That's socially acceptable. And there's nothing they can do about it.

When you look at it that way, it all makes sense: they're losing the culture war.

"We don't police wrongthink enough."

"We don't police wrongthink enough."

"Divinoids Developer at Catpad Games"

Enough said.

The staff post makes the thread lmao:
However, do not come into this thread to dismiss the feelings of trans people, downplay the severity of Rowling's blatant transphobia, or dismiss your fellow member's experiences and feelings. Those who do will be actioned severely.
Probably best not to comment at all on the game. At this point, "dismissing the concerns of..." has pretty much become defined as posting any opinion contradictory to the prevalent "moral" thinking. Doesn't matter if you aren't addressing anyone or any group in particular; doesn't matter if all you're doing is asking a question that points in an unpopular rhetorical direction.

That rule about "dismissing" was originally worded to be pretty specific, but it's now so broadly interpreted that it acts as justification for almost any sort of banning.

"We don't police wrongthink enough."
I think both the argument itself and the lack of moderation about it seems to arise from a fundamental misunderstanding of how game development works and how most developers profit from game sales or will have their livelyhood affected by their sales (news flash: in the case of AAA games with dozens or hundreds of salaried devs, barely at all). Much has been written in this forum about the validity of this argument as a whole, often by devs themselves, but few of it seems to ever be heeded, or have any kind of long-term impact whatsoever on either its usage or moderation.

To throw my two cents, as a dev myself: I feel offended every time someone uses fellow devs as a shield to justify their own purchasing decisions. Please do not pin your support of vile people on any of our livelyhoods; I'd rather change jobs than be the excuse for people to e.g. keep funneling money into Rowling's pockets.
Remember this next time there's a Mass Effect: Andromeda, Battlefield V, or The Last of Us 2.

They locked a trailer stats thread.
They're really making a nemesis out of Rowling. She's impenetrable.

The coming war over a Harry Potter game is likely to be the biggest, ugliest, most bloody contest that the forum has ever seen. The game itself is too big and too noteworthy for them to ignore, but every single thread about it is a flashpoint for people's screeching activism. Purely expressing interest in playing/buying it is enough to make the local lunatics howl with anger and disgust. Conversely, it's insanely easy to troll these lunatics just by posting neutral or positive information about the game.....so it allows anyone to stir up the asylum without violating forum rules or guidelines. Nutjobs will continue to demand that the forum become "safe" for them, and increasingly insist that anyone who says "This looks fun" is actually a secret Nazi troll.

There's really no satisfactory solution to the problem. Either quarantine the trans discussion to the "Rowling is murdering trans people" thread, or just let every thread about the game become a cacophony of the same two-dozen people rehashing the same arguments about separating the art from the artist/the efficacy of a boycott.

I suppose there's also the nuclear option -- just banning any and all discussion of HP, but even for Resetera that seems kind of insane. It'd be bending over backwards just to support the insecurities of maybe 100 people who cannot even bear to see the words "Harry Potter".

My guess is that they will probably do nothing, and hope that interest in the discussion simply fades out in the same way that the outrage over THQNordic sputtered. I don't think that time will solve the problem though.

How is that different from any other day on ResetEra?
Because Harry Potter is like the biggest new IP of the last 20 years, and is still actively getting new installments. Axing it from forum discussion entirely would be on a different scale than their limp-wristed bans of problematic YouTubers and Twitch streamers. From a public-facing perspective it would just be embarrassing to be known as "The forum where you can't talk about Harry Potter". Purely from a moderation standpoint it would be difficult to regularly or consistently enforce. The hassle and severity of a full-scale ban would be far out of proportion to their usual attempts to placate the peanut gallery.

Harry Potter is the only book they've ever read, and is the only major franchise they actually care about.

It's their sacred cow, and now it's being fucked by their own cancel culture. It's the ResetEra equivalent of this tweet.

The second attempt at a Hogwarts Legacy trailer statistics thread gets LOCKED:

Are they just going to start locking everything related to this game that isn't stark criticism and denouncement?

And how much guilt/culpability will the lunatics assign to the many personalities and media outlets covering this game? Is Geoff Keighley killing trans children because he tweeted some screenshots of it? Is Gamespot putting people "in danger" if they review it as an 8/10?

So many weird contradictions and takes on this, I am interested to see how their twisted logic works it all out.
