What's been most fascinating to me about this is watching ResetERA posters get pushed to the breaking point, then say something mildly inflammatory in response. Then ResetERA shouts "Got 'em! They were a secret chud all along!" and slams the ban button.

I feel obligated to highlight the absurdity of the white upper-middle class #ACAB larpers on reeeeeee. Cypress Hill, one of the kino hip hop acts opened their debut album with "Pigs", a scathing indictment of the police.

For those that aren't aware, Cypress Hill is a South-Central LA group most active in the 90s, exactly the time and place of some of the worst excesses of police brutality, including the Rampart Scandal and the attendant miscarriage of justice. Cypress Hill weren't no studio gangsters, they lived that shit every day. Despite all this they were still able to try and look over the row to see how the other half lives.

There's a side mission that really humanizes the NCPD, judging by the postings by other people I saw after looking up what I was supposed to have done after failing the mission most people fail.

It was interesting and it seems like most people didn't do back on a loaded save, either, if they failed because the way it was written gave the failure weight. It wasn't like getting lectured by a monk for defending yourself or whatever.

It was mainly about not being able to process watching a murder and then seeing the murderer get off because of friends in high places, and having that powerlessness echoed in their private life.

If I see members of that gang (and a few others) I go Punisher on them now and toss a few grenades into their street parties now. I don't have any delusions of the character being righteous in any way, though. I'm making NC worse, but so is everyone else.

Most of the people who were making GAF shit moved to ResetEra when EviLore didn't give in to their attempted coup. In fact, EviLore calling their bluff and telling them to go pound sand go away if they didn't like the forums is the reason why ResetEra was created in the first place. Had he given in all the madness would likely be happening on GAF instead.

I can't talk about the current state of NeoGAF, but it seems to be a nice forum and it's recovering from the blow its numbers suffered back then. It's not nearly as big or as active as it was in its heyday, but the numbers have been steadily increasing.

In all seriousness, one of my favorite bits of fluff in the original Cyberpunk 2020 tabletop game is its description of fashion in a transhumanist age. In the Dark Future, no one looks average anymore. Everyone is either perfectly beautiful, or very creatively ugly.

Can you still have people banned for $10 on SA? I haven't been there since Lowtax made everyone start using 132 character passwords which is kind of useless when you longer have the email address you registered with (aside from the fact the forum went to shit in 2003/2004) .
