I suspect what occured is they didnt have the "then I went to college, got laid and made loads of friends" phase.

The fact that they all suck at gym and it upset them is pretty funny though, Everyone has classes they stink at but you don't rank it that high when you're in your 30's.

In my one obligatory high school gym class, we did the bare minimum to humor the overlords with volleyball or whatever and treated the rest like a free period. Not surprised that REE will treat it like the event horizon of their lives instead of a meme joke every generation puts up with.

I can understand that putting someone off gym but when you're an adult you can choose what sports or exercises you do, and there isn't a teacher standing over you berating you - you might have a trainer yelling but they're there to help you, they want you to stay and keep paying for the class and the rest of the class will encourage and teach each other too. It's not like PE where nobody really has a choice to be there and you're dealing with puberty and awkward social situations at the same time. You can try out more activities and find out what suits you - minor PL, I was a clumsy kid and sucked at gymnastics and ball games but I got into MMA and wrestling as an adult and it's great, it's fun, if my clumsy arse falls down I can put the other guy on the floor too. Hell, they could do a nerdy activity like historical battle reenactment, marching and running around with heavy armour, or do zumba, otagei or parapara to their anime music, that's still exercise, and there's enough other nerds out there that they can form or join a group for it together if they like. It's sad that they're now adults and can do whatever they like and still choose to do nothing. Makes me wonder if they're clinically depressed or just shut-ins.
