Guaranteed anonymity is problematic though.

The counter-argument is that identifiable data might be abused by governments or criminals. And I buy that. The thing is that it's been shown time and time again that if a government or criminal wants to hack their way in, they will. I don't the general population will be protected by having legislation set up road blocks to identify criminal activity online. Corrupt government and criminals will bypass those roadblocks anyway.

Holy fucking shit, the AnitaZoeGoesUN thread is so fucking horrible.

Does this asshat remember Ultima IV? That game easily took tens of hours to win, at least if you were doing it unspoilered and traveling around the game world to figure out stuff, collect reagents for spells, and so on. That was 1985.

He'd try to say that Ultima IV was an exception and that all games with open-world today are filler, even though some games today are longer compared to others. A game being longer than others isn't new. It was shown with the Ultima games, it was shown with other games. The "open-world" creep he speaks of would only apply if said open-world ends up becoming bland and banal with say 20 minutes and everything in it ends up feeling over-recycled.

Why would you want to spend $60 on something that is only a few hours long? That doesn't make sense economically.
Because it makes one content with the game they purchased. In all honesty, as much as how that can apply, there is still the fact one spent a lot of money on something that could of been bought at a lower price.

If you want to talk about pointless open-world gameplay, remember the Alone In the Dark remake? (No? Good) Where you have open-world gameplay suddenly near the last stretch of game and all you do is throwing Molotov at evil trees.

That's hardly the worst example of nonsensical spending. There exists people who buy $750 cupcakes.

That guy ItWasMeantToBe19 is a piece of work. A self admitted state lobbyst ("a favorite and well regarded job") that goes in the "shame on you gamers" bandwagon.

For a place that used to be overly paranoid about corporate 'shills', is funny seeing him still in political threads.
